Head of Insurance & Compliance

West Midlands | Hybrid Working Available

Salary: Up to £60,000 + £6,000 Car allowance + Benefits

A well-established and growing warranty insurance business is looking to appoint an experienced insurance professional to lead its insurance function and help shape the next stage of its growth in this role which will have a main focus on their compliance, risk and regulatory responsibilities.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone from an underwriting, broking, delegated authority, insurer relationship management or insurance compliance background who is looking for a broader role with greater autonomy, influence and visibility than they may currently have within a larger company.

The business has built a strong reputation within the warranty and protection market, working with major national retail partners across the UK. While it has achieved significant growth, it has retained an entrepreneurial and agile culture where decisions are made quickly, bureaucracy is limited, and individuals are empowered to make a real impact.

This is not a role where you'll be responsible for a small piece of a much larger business. Instead, you'll take ownership of a wide-ranging insurance function, combining insurer relationship management, portfolio oversight, regulatory compliance, governance, operational improvement and strategic development.

For someone currently working within a larger insurer, MGA or broker, this position offers the chance to step into a far broader remit. You'll have direct exposure to senior leadership, genuine influence over business decisions and the opportunity to shape how the insurance function evolves moving forward.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
