The opportunity
Sense is looking for a Head of Internal Communications to lead a strategic, inclusive programme that connects its people to its purpose. Reporting to the Chief People Officer and leading a team of three, you will shape culture, strengthen engagement and support organisational change across a diverse, geographically dispersed workforce, including frontline teams.
Main responsibilities
- Develop and deliver an internal communications strategy aligned with Sense's goals, values and transformation priorities.
- Lead and develop the internal communications team, role modelling inclusive, values-led leadership.
- Advise the chief officers' group and senior leaders on internal messaging and engagement.
- Partner with the external communications and social change teams so colleagues can act as ambassadors for Sense.
- Oversee internal channels, from the Sense Engage intranet to Teams, and trial new digital approaches, including AI.
- Lead internal communications for change programmes and crisis situations.
- Champion employee voice and set KPIs to measure the reach and impact of internal communications.

Key skills and experience required
- Significant internal communications leadership in a large, complex, values-led organisation, ideally in charity, health or social care.
- A track record of internal communications strategies that drive engagement, alignment and cultural change.
- Experience of leading communications through restructures, transformation programmes or crisis.
- Excellent stakeholder management, including influencing senior leaders and cross-functional teams.
- Experience of reaching frontline or dispersed workforces with varying levels of digital access.
- A commitment to disabled people with complex needs and Sense’s vision and values; a willingness to learn how to communicate with disabled people with complex needs and identify the barriers to their participation in all aspects of Sense’s work.
