About the organisation

Our client is a not-for-profit organisation working in the life sciences based in central London.

The opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity to lead internal communications and colleague engagement through a period of real change. You will be a trusted adviser to the CEO and Executive team, helping colleagues across scientific disciplines connect with the organisation's purpose, strategy and culture.

Main responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver the internal communications and engagement strategy and annual plan, using research, colleague feedback and data to measure impact.
  • Advise the CEO, Executive team and senior leaders, offering sound counsel and constructive challenge on communications, change and sensitive issues.
  • Lead communications and engagement through the adoption of new ways of working.
  • Lead the internal channel and editorial strategy across the intranet, email, events, town halls and video, supporting two-way dialogue and inclusion.
  • Grow internal video content, from scoping and scripting to production, working with internal teams and external suppliers.
  • Work with the People team on colleague listening and engagement, and equip leaders and managers to communicate well with their own teams.
  • Line manage a Communications Manager, and manage agencies, production partners and budgets.

Key skills and experience required

  • Significant experience delivering evidence-based internal communications and engagement strategies in a complex, multi-stakeholder organisation.
  • A strong track record of leading communications through significant organisational change.
  • The credibility and confidence to advise at CEO and Executive level.
  • An excellent storyteller, writer and editor, able to make complex or sensitive information clear and engaging for different audiences.
  • Experience across digital channels, live and hybrid events and video production, and demonstrable people-management experience.
  • A background in life sciences, research or healthcare would be advantageous.
