About the role
The Head of Investment is responsible for leading Progeny's investment proposition, shaping investment strategy, solution design and the delivery of positive client outcomes. The role sets the investment philosophy and approach, ensuring the proposition is applied consistently across the adviser population.
The postholder is accountable for ensuring the investment proposition delivers fair value and good client outcomes in line with Consumer Duty. They provide strategic investment leadership, technical expertise and market insight, acting as a trusted subject matter expert to the Investment Committee, Board, advisers and clients.
A dual-hatted role
The Product Manager supports product governance across Progeny Wealth and provides equivalent support to Progeny Asset Management (PAM). This includes preparing ACD governance materials, Assessment of Value inputs, and fund oversight reporting. The role ensures that governance is not just designed but consistently evidenced, maintaining a complete, accurate and audit-ready record of product decisions and governance activity.
Key Areas of Focus
Investment Strategy and Philosophy
Define and maintain Progeny's investment philosophy, setting the mandates for Progeny Asset Management (PAM) and overseeing the research process that underpins investment decision-making.
Solution Design and Management
Lead the design and ongoing management of Progeny's investment solutions and their interaction with the PAM fund range, ensuring they remain aligned with client risk profiles and objectives.

Platform and ISIN Rationalisation
Provide investment leadership to platform and ISIN rationalisation programmes, ensuring the consolidation of the investment instrument estate is delivered without detriment to client portfolios or investment outcomes.
Key responsibilities
- Own and articulate Progeny’s investment philosophy, process, and asset allocation framework.
- Lead the design and ongoing management of Progeny’s investment solutions and model portfolio range.
- Chair or lead the Investment Committee, owning the agenda, papers, and investment decisions taken.
- Oversee manager research, fund selection, and due diligence, including the selection and monitoring of third-party managers and DFMs.
- Ensure the investment proposition demonstrably delivers fair value and good client outcomes under Consumer Duty.
- Own investment performance reporting and attribution, and communicate performance, positioning, and market outlook to advisers, clients, and the Board.
- Provide investment leadership to platform and ISIN rationalisation, working alongside the Change Manager and Client Proposition team.
- Work with the Head of Product and PAM to ensure alignment between the investment proposition and Progeny’s manufactured fund range.
- Act as a senior technical point of escalation for complex investment queries from advisers and clients.
- Lead, develop, and quality-assure the work of the investment team, including the Investment Governance Manager.

Our ideal person
Essential criteria
- Substantial investment management experience within UK wealth management, private client, or discretionary fund management.
- Demonstrable track record of designing and managing multi-asset investment solutions or model portfolio ranges.
- Strong technical knowledge of asset allocation, portfolio construction, manager research, and risk management.
- Working knowledge of the FCA regulatory environment, including Consumer Duty, COBS suitability, and investment governance obligations.
- Credible and confident communicator, able to present investment thinking to advisers, clients, committees, and the Board.
- Relevant professional qualification (e.g. CFA, IMC with Chartered status, or equivalent).
Desirable criteria
- Experience of working alongside or within an ACD / AFM structure or manufactured fund range.
- Prior involvement in investment, platform, or ISIN migration and rationalisation programmes.
- Experience of building or embedding an investment governance framework.
- Line management experience within an investment function.
