Head of Retail Investment Proposition
Location: London, Hybrid
About the Role
We are working with a leading global financial services organisation to appoint a Head of Investment Proposition within its retail business.
This is a senior leadership opportunity for an individual with a strong understanding of the retail investment market, who can combine strategic thinking, proposition development, commercial execution, and people leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the Development and Execution: Lead the development and execution of the strategic agenda for the retail investment proposition.
- Team Leadership: Lead, develop, and motivate a multi-disciplinary team operating across several locations, creating a strong culture of collaboration, accountability, and delivery.
- Strategic Direction: Provide clear direction across multiple teams and functions within the retail proposition organisation, ensuring priorities are aligned to the overall business strategy.
- Market Assessment: Assess market developments, customer needs, competitor activity, and regulatory change to identify opportunities for proposition development and growth.
- Product Evolution: Shape the evolution of investment products, solutions, and services offered to retail customers.
- Strategic Translation: Translate strategic priorities into clear commercial and implementation plans.
- Proposition Development: Lead proposition development initiatives from initial concept through to implementation and ongoing optimisation.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with senior stakeholders across Investment, Product, Distribution, Marketing, Operations, Technology, and Risk.
- Recommendation Development: Develop clear recommendations and business cases for senior leadership and executive-level decision making.
- Customer Proposition Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve the customer proposition, investment experience, and overall competitiveness of the business.
- Market Monitoring: Monitor market trends and emerging developments across the wealth and retail investment landscape.
- Strategic Responses: Support strategic responses to changes in regulation, investor behaviour, technology, and the competitive environment.
- Performance Assessment: Establish appropriate measures and KPIs to assess the performance and effectiveness of strategic initiatives.
- Cross-Functional Project Leadership: Lead cross-functional projects and influence stakeholders across a complex, matrixed organisation.
- Relationship Building: Build strong relationships across teams and locations, creating alignment between strategic priorities, proposition development, and day-to-day execution.
- Thought Leadership: Provide thought leadership on the future development of the investment proposition and evolving customer needs.

Experience Required
We are looking for a senior investment, wealth, or financial services professional with a strong combination of leadership, strategy, proposition, and commercial experience.
Ideally, you will have:
- Significant experience within retail investments, wealth management, asset management, investment platforms, or a related financial services environment.
- Experience in strategy, proposition, product strategy, product development, or a closely related discipline.
- A proven track record of leading and developing high-performing teams, ideally across multiple locations and/or disciplines.
- Experience leading through complex, multi-functional structures and bringing together teams across strategy, proposition, product, investment, technology, operations, and client experience.
- Strong understanding of the retail investment market and competitive landscape.
- Demonstrable experience taking strategic concepts through to practical implementation.
- Experience working with senior stakeholders and influencing at executive level.
- Strong commercial judgement and the ability to balance customer, investment, and business considerations.
- Excellent analytical and communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex issues and make clear recommendations.
- Experience operating successfully within a large, matrixed organisation.
- A track record of leading complex, cross-functional initiatives.
