Head of IT

A prestigious opportunity has arisen for an experienced Head of IT to join a large, fast-paced organisation operating within a highly complex logistics and supply chain and manufacturing environment. Technology sits at the heart of the operation, supporting time-critical services, large scale operational teams and business critical systems across multiple locations. The business is investing heavily in modernisation, digital transformation and operational excellence, creating a fantastic opportunity for an experienced technology leader to make a tangible impact.

You'll be responsible for both infrastructure and business systems, ensuring technology enables operational efficiency, resilience, security and future growth.

Reporting to senior leadership, you will lead the IT function across a diverse technology estate, partnering with stakeholders across the business to drive operational improvements, technology transformation and service excellence. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver a technology strategy aligned to business growth and operational objectives.
  • Lead and develop a high performing IT team across infrastructure, applications and support services.
  • Drive continuous improvement across IT service delivery, operational processes and business systems.

  • Manage IT budgets, technology investments and commercial contracts.
  • Sponsor and lead technology transformation programmes and business-critical projects.
  • Ensure robust governance, cyber security, risk management and compliance frameworks are in place.
  • Partner with operational and commercial stakeholders to identify opportunities for technology-enabled improvement.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
