The Information Technology department is responsible for the implementation, provision and support of all Information and Technology services within the firm. The IT department is a Business Services function that supports and contributes to the objectives of the Legal practice. Members of this department are expected to be a part of the firm's culture and be committed to providing a high quality of service to our customers.

Working Hours

35 hours per week, 9:30am to 5:30pm but additional hours may be required. We are happy to consider agile and flexible working patterns. Our approach to hybrid working allows for up to 40% of time working from home and 60% working in the office, please contact a member of the recruitment team to discuss further.

Role Overview

The document management system (NetDocuments), along with other systems used to manage documents, form a key strategic product set for creating, managing and delivering our client product and content. This role is designed specifically for someone to be the expert and leader in driving forward all aspects of adoption, product roadmap, information governance, working practices, enhancements, fixes and integrations.

The role will involve understanding all aspects of how the firm uses and works with documents across regions, practices and support functions.

The role’s reporting line is to the Global Head of IT Business Solutions, and is responsible for designing the support model, user adoption approach and establishing a product team that will report to the role and have ownership of NetDocuments and other associated applications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define the vision and roadmap for the firms Document Products, including NetDocuments and associated applications, creating a delivery plan in which to achieve that vision.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with the key business and technology stakeholders to understand and anticipate the needs of the firm and how they relate to product capabilities and constraints.
  • Form a strategic relationship with the vendors ensuring early visibility of new features.
  • Understand the competitor landscape and represent the needs of our users at vendor led product development and user experience workshops.
  • Be the change agent for NetDocuments and other associated applications, and Information Governance, removing barriers to adoption and ensuring new functionality is implemented with minimal disruption.
  • Understand fully the commercial and contractual arrangements with vendors in order to maintain service levels, support commercial discussions and contractual changes.
  • Own the maintenance, bug fixing and product backlog plans, prioritising needs whilst balancing scope, budget and time.
  • Be a subject matter expert in NetDocuments and other applications, associated developments and make decisions regarding product capabilities and priorities. Extending this to market research, the broader legal industry and the future needs of the firm.
  • Take an active role in understanding and communicating implications of data retention, data residency and the constraints of jurisdictional legislation and client expectations when considering new features, integrations and business processes.
  • All members of the firm are expected to participate in our Global Citizenship program.
  • And other duties as assigned.

Skills & Experience

  • Has a legal industry background in which exposure to lawyers and practices was a significant part of the role.
  • Delivered business change and embedded adoption of new technology, processes and services.
  • Has the gravitas and credibility to operate at a senior level and interface with partners and senior business leaders.
  • Can demonstrate good commercial acumen and vendor management.
  • Has experience of a product development lifecycle, analysis, design, development, testing, deployment and business change.
  • Experience of Information or Data Governance and the implications of jurisdictional requirements.
  • Has led successful teams in development and / or support roles.
  • Though not mandatory, a consulting or business analysis or business relationship management background is advantageous.
