Head of IT – Leadership, Applications, ITSM, Infrastructure, Cloud, Digital Transformation, M&A, Cyber Security, Suppliers, Governance, Budgets, ISO, Cyber Essentials Plus, AI, Automation, Azure, London (Hybrid)

This is an exceptional permanent Head of IT opportunity to join a growing Engineering Services business undergoing significant technology, operational and business transformation.

The Head of IT role is Hybrid, based in London, with 4 days a week on site during probation, reducing to 2 days a week thereafter. Therefore, you must be based at a commutable distance to London.

As Head of IT, you will have overall responsibility for the IT function across Applications, Infrastructure and IT Service Management, ensuring secure, reliable, scalable and cost-effective technology services across the Group. Proven experience leading IT through senior managers across these functions is essential. The Head of IT will own day-to-day IT operations, service performance, infrastructure and cloud, enterprise applications, ITSM and outsourced service providers, while also supporting the organisation’s digital transformation roadmap and M&A activity. You will work closely with the Group IT Director, Head of Cyber Security, Head of IT PMO and senior business leadership to ensure technology services align with business objectives, regulatory requirements and long-term transformation plans. The role will play a key part in digital transformation, modernisation, automation, AI adoption and M&A activity, including due diligence, integration and separation. Strong senior IT leadership, executive stakeholder management, supplier governance, budget control, transformation and operational excellence experience are essential. Strong M365, Azure, ITIL and governance/security knowledge is also required.

Key skills as Head of IT:

  • Proven experience leading Applications, Infrastructure and ITSM teams, including senior IT managers.
  • Strong experience across Cloud, Azure, M365, Modern Workplace and Enterprise Applications.
  • Track record in ITSM, ITIL, MSP governance, SLAs, KPIs and service improvement.
  • Experience delivering Digital Transformation, Automation, AI and M&A integration/separation.
  • Strong experience managing budgets, suppliers, commercial governance and executive stakeholders.
  • Experience with ISO 27001, Cyber Essentials Plus, GDPR and IT Governance.

Desirable skills as Head of IT:

  • Experience within construction, engineering, infrastructure or project-based organisations.
  • Cloud or Microsoft certifications.
  • Cyber Security certifications.
  • AI governance, automation platforms and emerging technologies.
  • Experience managing multimillion-pound IT budgets.
