Head of IT - London - Up to £100k - Retail Sector - New Role

A leading organisation in the retail sector requires a Head of IT to lead its growing IT function. The successful candidate will provide both high-level strategic direction and deep, hands-on technical leadership to shape, build, and maintain a high-performance, innovative and proactive technology function.
Suitable candidates will have a strong technical background and will be comfortable designing complex network topologies, configuring hybrid cloud environments, and troubleshooting legacy infrastructure. Additionally, you will have:

- Experience operating as a senior IT leader within a fast-paced retail environment turning over £250m+ or managing a highly complex multi-site retail/consumer-facing infrastructure.
- A proven career path that started in hands-on engineering; e.g., Systems Administrator, Network Engineer, Cloud Engineer, or Infrastructure Architect.
- Prior experience in retail, e-commerce, and internationally based organisations is highly desirable to understand the critical nature of follow-the-sun support and peak trading cycles.
- A strong working knowledge of public cloud paired with on-premise virtualisation technologies.
- A deep understanding of Active Directory, Entra ID, Okta, or Google Cloud Identity.
- Expert-level administration of mixed environments. Familiarity with Apple Business Manager, JAMF, Microsoft Endpoint Manager (Intune), and group policies.
- Practical knowledge of routing, switching, firewalls, VPNs, SD-WAN, and Wi-Fi infrastructure optimised for retail footprints.
- Ability to read or write basic scripts in PowerShell, Bash, and Python to automate repetitive administrative tasks is a strong plus.
