Head of IT Project Management | IT Transformation, Portfolio Governance & Resource Management | Hybrid - UK

About The Role

We're looking for an experienced Head of IT Project Management to build and lead our IT Project Management function during one of the most exciting periods of transformation in Safetykleen's history.

This is a rare opportunity to create a best-in-class project management capability from the ground up. You'll establish the governance, standards, reporting, resource planning and delivery framework that underpins every major IT initiative across the business.

Working closely with the CIO and senior leadership team, you'll become the face of IT project delivery, ensuring the business has complete visibility of priorities, progress, capacity and investment across a complex international technology portfolio.

This isn't a role for someone who simply manages projects. We're looking for someone who has successfully built or transformed an IT Project Management function before, thrives on bringing structure to complexity and can confidently influence, challenge and engage stakeholders at every level of the organisation.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Building and leading Safetykleen's IT Project Management function and PMO capability
  • Owning the master IT portfolio roadmap across all programmes, projects and strategic initiatives
  • Developing resource, capacity and skills planning across multiple IT disciplines
  • Implementing governance, project standards, templates and delivery methodologies
  • Producing executive-level reporting, dashboards and portfolio updates for the CIO and Executive Leadership Team
  • Managing programme risks, dependencies, RAID logs and escalation processes
  • Driving prioritisation of IT initiatives against business value and available capacity
  • Monitoring portfolio budgets, forecasting spend and tracking benefits realisation
  • Selecting and implementing project portfolio management and capacity planning tools
  • Partnering with business leaders, vendors and delivery teams to ensure successful programme execution
  • Coaching, mentoring and developing project management capability across the wider IT function
  • Building a high-performing IT Project Management team as the function continues to grow

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
