Dwelly – Head of IT & Security

Dwelly is a UK-based, AI-enabled lettings and property management platform accelerating growth through a roll-up strategy. The company acquires estate agencies to secure recurring revenue portfolios while deploying bespoke technology to automate:
- Tenant management
- Payments processing
- Post-rental property maintenance

Position Summary
We seek a Hands-on, strategic, and results-driven Head of IT & Security to build, scale, and lead the internal IT and security function at Dwelly.
Key Focus Areas:
- Establishing scalable processes for infrastructure, security, and access management.
- Driving operational discipline to secure reliability across a rapidly expanding enterprise.
- Unifying environment-wide standards post-acquisition, targeting frameworks like ISO 27001.
- Balancing systems development with business agility, quadrupling capacity to support thousands of properties and users sustainably.
This leadership role spans 12–24 months of high-impact transformation, integrating acquisitions and embedding Dwelly’s culture of ownership and technical excellence.
Key Responsibilities
1. Leadership & Strategy
- Define an IT and security strategy aligned with Dwelly’s acquisition-driven growth.
- Build and scale the internal function, covering IT operations, vendor management, and security governance.
- Set clear KPIs for access management, onboarding speed, security posture, and operational reliability.
- Foster a culture of ownership, discipline, and continuous improvement.
- Serve as the primary decision-maker regarding internal IT and security across the group.

2. Operational Excellence & Process Development
- Design scalable processes for:
- Onboarding and offboarding of users and systems.
- Lifecycle management (access control, MFA, patch management).
- Establish consistent security baselines across:
- Endpoints, identity platforms, and internal business systems.
- Standardise workplace infrastructure uniformly across merged entities, including:
- Google Workspace, telephony, and proprietary tools.
- Ensure compliance readiness for ISO 27001 and analogous frameworks.
- Address fragmentation, consolidating IT and security environments post-acquisition.
- Own security risk posture including:
- Access controls, audit preparedness, and incident response planning.
3. Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Collaborate seamlessly with Engineering, Product, Operations, Finance, and Legal to align IT and security with business goals.
- Champion secure integration during agency acquisitions into Dwelly’s unified environment.
- Serve as the internal owner of all IT/security initiatives, providing decisive direction to non-technical stakeholders.
4. Vendor & Ecosystem Management
- Oversee external vendors for IT, security, and infrastructure, ensuring contract alignment with Dwelly’s needs.
- Define and enforce service-level agreements (SLAs), security protocols, and performance standards.
- Optimise workflows by:
- Consolidating redundant tools.
- Balancing costs with reliability and scalability.
Qualifications & Preferred Background
Core Requirements
- 7+ years of experience in:
- Internal IT or security functions, or related fields.
- Proven track record of building or revamping IT and/or security functions in fast-growing/multi-entity environments.
- Experienced operating in acquisition-driven or Regulated environments (preferably PropTech, Fintech, or payments).
- Hands-on expertise in:
- Identity and access management (IAM).
- Onboarding/offboarding processes.
- Workplace infrastructure standardisation.
- Specialisation in IS0 27001 or Cyber Essentials Plus certifications, or similar.
- Leadership capability to drive stakeholder alignment across technical/non-technical teams.
- Ability to design and iterate scalable systems, processes, and security controls.
- Strong understanding of foundational security principles (access governance, incident response).
- Operational pragmatism, process-driven, and detail-oriented.
- Exponential experience in addressing fragmented IT environments.
