Head of IT

Location: Greater Manchester (office-based with occasional travel to operational sites)
Salary: £90,000 per annum + benefits
Contract: Permanent

An established multi-site organisation is seeking its first dedicated Head of IT to lead technology, systems and AI across the business. This newly created role reflects significant investment in technology and the growing importance of digital transformation, data and automation.

Following a recent ERP upgrade, the organisation is looking for an experienced technology leader who can define the future IT strategy while remaining close enough to the detail to ensure successful delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver the IT strategy and technology roadmap.
  • Own Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central and the wider business systems estate.
  • Lead AI and automation initiatives, identifying practical applications across the organisation.
  • Develop reporting, analytics and business intelligence capabilities through Power BI.
  • Ensure secure, reliable and scalable infrastructure across multiple locations.
  • Support operational technology, connectivity and compliance requirements.
  • Lead technology integration activities relating to business growth and acquisitions.
  • Manage the IT budget, supplier relationships and internal technology team.

Requirements

  • Proven experience leading an IT function with responsibility for strategy, budgets, suppliers and teams.
  • Strong ERP and business systems experience, ideally including Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.
  • Ability to balance strategic leadership with hands-on delivery.
  • Experience implementing AI, automation or digital transformation initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of infrastructure, cloud technologies and cyber security.
  • Experience supporting complex, multi-site operations.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.

Desirable Experience

  • Experience within a multi-site, operationally focused business.
  • Knowledge of EPOS, payments or other customer-facing technology platforms.
  • Experience supporting acquisitions and systems integration projects.
  • Familiarity with PCI DSS or similar compliance frameworks.
