An exciting opportunity at Lawrences Fine Art Auctioneers.
After many years of exceptional service to Lawrences, our wonderful Head of Jewellery will be retiring in February 2027.
She leaves behind an incredibly strong department and a legacy built on knowledge, experience, trusted client relationships, and a genuine passion for jewellery. While we will be very sorry to see her go, her retirement gives us the opportunity to carefully plan for the future and find the right person to continue building on everything she has achieved.
Importantly, we aren't looking to wait until February.
Our aim is to have the successful person join us before the end of 2026, allowing for a valuable handover period working alongside our current Head of Department. This will provide the opportunity to gain a thorough understanding of the Jewellery department, its clients, processes, and upcoming sales, while also getting to know Lawrences, our wider team, and the business as a whole before taking the department forward into its next chapter.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits
No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
We are looking for someone with a strong background, knowledge, and passion for jewellery, with experience and interest across areas including diamonds, precious stones, watches, and related luxury items.
Just as importantly, we're looking for the right person.
Someone who is enthusiastic, personable, and commercially minded; who enjoys working with clients and colleagues; and who wants to continue developing their knowledge and career. We would particularly welcome someone who is keen to broaden their expertise into other areas of the auction world and become an integral part of the wider Lawrences team.
Based in Crewkerne, Somerset, Lawrences is an established fine art auction house with a long history, but we're also a progressive and forward-thinking business. We continue to develop the way we work, embrace new opportunities, and grow our reach while retaining the expertise, personal service, and enthusiasm for objects that sit at the heart of a successful auction house.

This isn't simply about filling a vacancy.
It's an opportunity to work alongside an experienced and highly respected specialist, learn from the knowledge and relationships she has built over many years, and then bring your own experience, ideas, and ambitions to the department.
We want someone who can respect what has been built, build upon it, and ultimately make the department their own.
If you have a background in jewellery and the auction industry, or currently work within the jewellery, diamond, gemstone, or watch trade and feel that a move into the auction world could be your next step, we'd love to hear from you.
Likewise, if you know someone who you think would be a great fit for Lawrences, please share this opportunity with them.
