Rate: £15.76 per hour (Umbrella)
Contract: 2 Month Contract
Hours: Full Time
Enhanced DBS Required

Summary
We are seeking a seasoned Head of Kitchen to spearhead the catering services at a Local Authority primary school in Sutton-in-Ashfield. This role involves managing the kitchen's daily operations, ensuring that nutritious and high-quality meals are consistently provided to students and staff. The position demands adherence to the highest standards of food safety, hygiene, and customer service. The ideal candidate will be a detail-oriented and proactive catering professional with a background in supervisory roles and a dedication to delivering exceptional school meal services.
Responsibilities
- Develop, prepare, and serve meals for students and staff.
- Oversee and direct the daily functions of the school kitchen.
- Lead and support the catering team effectively.
- Ensure meals meet high standards of quality and presentation.
- Monitor food quality, portion sizes, and presentation.
- Ensure compliance with food hygiene, health and safety, and safeguarding protocols.
- Manage inventory levels and coordinate ordering as necessary.
- Oversee food storage and stock rotation practices.
- Keep precise records related to food safety and kitchen operations.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe kitchen environment.
- Optimize kitchen resources and minimize food waste.
- Enhance the dining experience for students and staff.

Essential Requirements
- Proven experience in a supervisory catering role.
- Valid Food Safety Certificate.
- Enhanced DBS Check.
- Capability to lead and inspire a small catering team.
- Experience in high-volume meal preparation.
- Comprehensive knowledge of food hygiene and health & safety regulations.
- Strong organizational and time management abilities.
- Ability to work autonomously and exercise initiative.
- Dedication to high standards of food quality and customer service.
- Dependable, adaptable, and professional demeanor.

Desirable
- Experience in a school, educational, or Local Authority catering setting.
- Relevant qualifications in catering or professional cookery.
