Head of Learning & Capability

As we continue to deliver our Reset Strategy, we're focused on creating simple, effective and scalable people solutions that support our colleagues across Retail, Supply Chain and the Support Centre.
As Head of Learning & Capability, you will lead the organisation's learning and capability agenda, shaping the strategies, frameworks and development programmes that enable colleagues and leaders to perform at their best. This is a highly influential role that combines strategic thinking with practical delivery, ensuring learning initiatives are aligned to business priorities and future capability requirements across the Group.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and deliver the Group learning and capability strategy, ensuring learning priorities, curricula and development programmes align with business objectives and workforce needs.
- Develop and maintain learning frameworks, governance, standards and career pathways that support colleague development and progression across the organisation.
- Lead the learning technology agenda, including learning management systems, digital learning solutions and scalable approaches that enhance the colleague experience.
- Partner with People Partners, business leaders and Talent & Organisation Development teams to identify capability needs and deliver targeted learning interventions across Retail, Supply Chain and Support Centre populations.
- Lead and develop the Learning & Capability team, using insight, benchmarking and feedback to continuously improve learning effectiveness and organisational capability.

The Ideal Candidate
- Significant Learning & Development or Learning & Capability experience, with a proven track record of developing learning strategies, frameworks and capability programmes within a large, complex organisation.
- Experience designing career pathways, development frameworks and governance models that support workforce growth, succession and capability development.
- Strong knowledge of learning technologies and digital learning solutions, with experience leveraging LMS platforms to deliver engaging and scalable learning experiences.
- Commercially minded and strategic, with the ability to translate business priorities into practical development solutions that improve performance and organisational capability.
- Excellent stakeholder management and leadership skills, with the credibility to influence senior leaders, build strong partnerships and lead high-performing teams.
