Global Head of Legal

London | Hybrid | International Travel
Up to £140,000 + Great Benefits

Sector experience really matters for this one.

We’re looking for someone who has worked in a project-led, operational environment such as engineering, construction, infrastructure, telecoms, utilities, industrial services or a similar heavy lifting sector.

This is a business where people are out on sites, delivering projects and managing long-term service contracts for major clients.

You’ll be working closely with Site Managers, Project Directors, Regional MDs, clients and the senior leadership team, helping manage commercial contracts, project risk and delivery across an international business.

Someone coming purely from private practice, financial services or another predominantly office-based environment is unlikely to have the right experience. We need someone who understands the realities of complex projects, operational delivery and long-term client contracts.

We’re partnering with a growing, PE-backed international engineering and project services business to appoint their Head of Legal.

This is the most senior legal role in the Group, reporting directly to the Group CFO and working closely with the Executive Team and Board.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

  • Support negotiations directly with major customers and commercial partners
  • Identify contractual and commercial risks before they become bigger problems
  • Support claims, disputes, variations and issues arising through project delivery
  • Partner with the Board, Group CFO and Executive Team on wider commercial and strategic matters

But the environment you’ve worked in is incredibly important.

We’d love to see experience across engineering, construction, infrastructure, utilities, telecoms, industrial services, manufacturing or another complex project-led business.

You’ll understand what happens when a contract moves from a document to something that actually needs to be delivered on the ground.

You’ll be comfortable getting into the detail with operational teams, challenging project risk, dealing with clients and helping the business find commercially sensible solutions.

Experience within a PE-backed, international or fast-growing organisation would be particularly useful.

Why Join?

It’s a brilliant time to join. The business is international, PE-backed and growing quickly, with plenty happening across projects, acquisitions and wider transformation.

You’ll have direct access to the Board and Executive Team, but you’ll also be close to the people actually delivering projects.

This is definitely not a legal role that sits on the sidelines.

It’s commercial, operational and hands-on, with a genuine opportunity to influence how the business manages contracts, projects, risk and growth.
