Head of Legal

Fintech Scale-Up | London

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a commercially minded lawyer to join a high-growth fintech business as its Head of Legal at a pivotal stage of its journey.

Backed by significant seed funding and with a Series A fundraising round imminent, the company is entering an ambitious phase of expansion. As part of this evolution, the current General Counsel is transitioning into a broader business leadership role, creating an opportunity for a legal leader to take ownership of the legal function and help shape the next stage of growth.

This role offers a rare chance to work directly alongside an experienced leadership team in a fast-moving, entrepreneurial environment where legal is viewed as a strategic business partner rather than a support function.

The Role

Reporting closely to the executive team, you will lead all legal matters across the business, advising on a broad range of commercial, regulatory and corporate issues. You will play a key role in enabling business growth, navigating regulatory developments and supporting strategic initiatives as the company scales.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
