The Firm
Anderson Strathern is a modern, innovative law firm. We’re proud of our history but firmly focused on an exciting future, one that embraces technology and smarter ways of working. We’re independent, and proudly so.
Our clients span entrepreneurs and SMEs to public sector organisations, corporates, and governments. They appreciate our integrity and straightforward way of doing business. For many, we have become trusted, longstanding confidantes, which speaks volumes.
The Role
We have an exciting new vacancy within our new Business Services structure.
Reporting directly to the COO, the Head of Legal Support will provide strategic leadership for legal support services, driving transformation through an effective management structure, strong departmental leadership, and cross-functional collaboration. The role will be responsible for developing a high-performing, client-focused team by identifying skills gaps, implementing structured training and career development programmes, and fostering a culture of continuous learning and service excellence. Working closely with department managers, partners, fee earners, and other business services functions, the postholder will lead the design and implementation of an optimal support model with clearly defined roles, greater consistency across departments, and enhanced client-facing responsibilities where appropriate. The role will also oversee process review, standardisation, and adoption of best practice across the firm, champion the effective use of technology, workflow tools, and AI to improve efficiency, and establish meaningful KPIs and management reporting to measure performance, demonstrate value, and support continuous improvement.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
