I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

We are particularly interested in lawyers with significant private equity and transactional experience, ideally gained within private equity, venture capital, growth equity, private credit, or a broader private markets environment. Candidates are likely to be operating as a Head of Legal or in a senior legal position within an investment platform, asset manager, or alternative investments business. Strong private practice candidates with relevant sector expertise will also be considered.
The role requires an individual with a proven track record of leading complex transactions, including acquisitions, disposals, co-investments, financings, and other sophisticated investment structures. Experience of fund formation, fundraising, investor negotiations, and the wider private funds landscape would be advantageous, although exceptional transactional lawyers with a strong private markets background are encouraged to apply.
