Head of Logistics
Elevation Procurement & Supply Chain are delighted to be partnered with a growing and developing manufacturing business, with the search and selection of a new position to the business of Head of Logistics.
Step into a pivotal leadership role where you’ll shape the logistics / Transport strategy for a growing, commercially focused organisation. This is a high-impact position overseeing transport, fleet, and operational performance, ensuring that service delivery, safety, and profitability are consistently optimised.
About the Role:
As Head of Logistics, you will lead the end-to-end logistics operation, with primary responsibility for transport and fleet maintenance management across the business. You will drive performance through effective KPI management, ensuring operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, and commercial growth. Working closely with senior stakeholders, you will translate business objectives into robust logistics plans that support long-term success. "O" Licence & CPC qualification holder.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the logistics function, including transport and fleet operations, to ensure efficient, reliable service delivery.
- Develop and implement logistics strategies and plans that optimise routes, utilisation, and cost-effectiveness.
- Oversee fleet management activities, including maintenance schedules, vehicle compliance, and asset utilisation.
- Establish, monitor, and analyse operational KPIs, using data to identify trends, drive improvements, and report performance to senior management.
- Ensure full compliance with health and safety legislation and transport regulations, embedding best practice across the logistics team.
- Provide strong leadership to logistics staff, setting clear objectives, coaching managers, and fostering a high-performance culture.
- Collaborate with commercial and operational teams to support business development, customer service improvements, and margin enhancement.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives across logistics processes, systems, and workflows to enhance efficiency and service quality.

Key Requirements:
- Proven experience in a senior logistics or transport management role, ideally at Head of Department or equivalent level.
- Strong track record in transport and fleet management within a multi-vehicle, multi-route environment.
- Demonstrable expertise in performance analysis and KPI management, including use of data to drive operational decisions.
- In-depth knowledge of health and safety requirements and transport-related compliance regulations.
- Experience managing and developing teams, with the ability to lead through change and growth.
- Commercial awareness with experience contributing to cost control, efficiency gains, and revenue or margin improvement.
- Confident communicator able to influence stakeholders and present performance insights to senior leadership.
- Competent user of logistics, transport management, or fleet systems, and comfortable working with operational data.

Desirable Skills:
- Experience in a logistics role within a fast-paced, high-volume distribution or manufacturing environment.
- Background in implementing or optimising transport management systems (TMS) or telematics solutions.
- Exposure to contract management and supplier negotiation in the logistics or transport sector.
- Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies such as Lean or Six Sigma.
- Experience supporting or leading logistics elements of commercial tenders or new business implementations.
Qualifications:
- Degree-level education in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).
- Professional qualification in transport or logistics (e.g. CPC in Road Transport Management) strongly preferred.
- Evidence of ongoing professional development in leadership, health and safety, or operational management.
- Full UK driving licence.
