Head of Maintenance
Location: Richmond Villages Painswick, Stroud Road, Painswick, Gloucestershire, GL6 6UL
Salary range: £14,234.8 per annum depending on experience.
Contract: 16 hrs per week
Shift Pattern: Mainly on Thursday and Friday, may require occasional weekend work and some on call.
Previous experience as head of maintenance in similar facilities management environment. Some duty management shift cover required, plus supporting occasional on call.

About the Role
As our Head of Maintenance, you’ll ensure that the necessary maintenance and repair tasks are completed to the highest standard and the Village remains fully functional at all times.
You’ll help us make health happen by:
- Managing, training and developing other maintenance employees in the team and keeping a record of all instructions given, especially where use of equipment is involved
- Assisting with staff inductions, specifically relating to emergency exists, fire points and evacuation procedures
- Advising over the phone when off duty or being called out to the Village in emergency situations
- Reporting any defects to the Village manager and identifying issues that require escalation or specialist advice
- Ensuring the outside of the building and grounds are maintained to a safe and good standard of repair, carrying out any works with minimum disruption to residents and staff
- Checking boilers are functioning correctly, free of leaks/defects and that space and water temperatures are correct
- Ensuring that safety and cleanliness within the Village adheres to current regulations and that all health and safety checks are completed and recorded
- Adhering to company purchasing procedures, making every effort to minimise waste and control costs
- Maintaining the office workshop and plant rooms, ensuring all areas are kept clean and all tools/equipment are safely secured
- Ensuring all residents’ electrical appliances are checked and tagged ‘safe for use’ adhering to Health and Safety regulations

Key Skills / Qualifications needed for this role
You have previous experience in a property or maintenance repair role and a good understanding of building services such as electrical distribution and plumbing. A Health and Safety or relevant building, electrical or plumbing qualification would be advantageous. With previous experience of planned maintenance systems and record keeping you have good IT skills and knowledge of statutory requirements. Friendly and approachable, you have excellent customer service skills and an ability to work well within a team.
