Are you practical, organised and proud of keeping buildings safe, well maintained and looking cared for?
Oaklands Rest Home is looking for a Head of Maintenance to support the safety, comfort, compliance and presentation of our family-run care home.
This is a hands-on role covering reactive repairs, planned maintenance, safety checks, contractor liaison, stock and tools, grounds, records and general upkeep of the home.
In a care home, maintenance is not just fixing things. It affects resident safety, dignity, comfort, first impressions, staff confidence and family trust.

What you will be doing
You will:
- Respond to maintenance requests and minor repairs
- Prioritise health, safety, fire and resident wellbeing risks
- Support planned maintenance checks and compliance records
- Liaise with contractors and suppliers
- Maintain tools, stock and maintenance areas safely
- Support building, garden and grounds upkeep
- Use maintenance systems and records properly
- Work respectfully around residents, including people living with dementia
What we are looking for
We are looking for someone who is:
- Experienced in property maintenance, repairs or a similar practical role
- Hands-on, organised and reliable
- Safety-conscious and good at prioritising risks
- Confident with basic records, email and digital systems
- Able to communicate well with staff, contractors and managers
- Respectful of residents’ privacy, routines and dignity
- Honest about what can be completed safely and when specialists are needed

Care home experience is helpful but not essential. A practical mindset, strong safety awareness and respect for older people are essential.
