Head of Marketing

An opportunity to shape the future of a market leading, media, creative and commercial group.

What if you were given the opportunity to take ownership of the marketing strategy for a group of established brands — and the freedom to genuinely make your mark?

We’re working with a diverse, ambitious organisation with deep roots in its communities and an increasingly digital future. Its portfolio spans media, publishing, print, creative services and marketing, bringing together specialist businesses with loyal audiences, strong commercial relationships and significant opportunities for growth.

The organisation is now looking for a Head of Marketing to join its leadership team and help define what comes next.

This isn't a role where you'll simply manage campaigns handed down to you.

You'll have the opportunity to build the strategy, test new ideas, challenge existing thinking and see the impact of your work directly on audiences, brands and revenue.

The opportunity:

You'll take ownership of marketing across a varied portfolio of brands and products, balancing brand-building with measurable commercial results.

A key part of the role will be growing customer subscriptions and engagement, including taking one of the organisation's distinctive content brands to the next level — increasing awareness, audience loyalty and recurring revenue.

You'll also lead a high-profile awards programme, develop the group's digital presence and website strategy, and create campaigns that bring together marketing, commercial, editorial and digital teams.

There's plenty of variety. One day you could be looking at subscription conversion data; the next, shaping a major brand campaign, supporting a commercial pitch or developing an event strategy.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

The common thread?

Making marketing work harder.

What you'll be responsible for

  • Developing and delivering the group's overall marketing and communications strategy.
  • Growing subscriptions through acquisition, conversion and retention activity.
  • Developing the profile, audience and commercial potential of a distinctive content-led brand.
  • Owning digital marketing across multiple channels, platforms and audiences.
  • Shaping and improving the web and e-commerce strategy.
  • Using data, insight and experimentation to improve conversion and ROI.
  • Working closely with Commercial, Editorial and Digital teams to turn ideas into campaigns.
  • Creating compelling marketing materials and content that help win and retain customers.
  • Leading the planning, promotion and delivery of a major awards programme.
  • Supporting the marketing needs of several specialist businesses across print, creative and marketing services.
  • Identifying emerging technologies, trends and opportunities that could give the organisation an advantage.
  • Building a consistent and compelling brand proposition across internal and external channels.

Who are we looking for?

We're looking for someone who is commercially minded, digitally confident and naturally curious.

You'll probably have spent at least 3–5 years operating at senior marketing manager level, with a track record of turning marketing activity into measurable growth.

You should be comfortable moving between strategy and execution. This is a hands-on leadership position, so we're looking for someone who can develop the big idea — and then get stuck in to making it happen.

You'll bring experience across areas such as:

  • Digital marketing and e-commerce
  • Website management and optimisation
  • SEO and conversion optimisation
  • Google Analytics / GA4, Google Tag Manager and Google Ads
  • Email marketing, ideally including platforms such as Klaviyo
  • Customer acquisition, retention and recurring revenue
  • Marketing analytics and performance reporting
  • Campaign and project management
  • Stakeholder and cross-functional team management

Experience across multiple brands, subscriptions, CRM and marketing automation, technical website projects, UX/CRO or reporting tools such as Power BI or Looker Studio would be advantageous.

Experience in media, publishing, print or content-led businesses would be particularly interesting — but we're equally interested in marketers from other sectors who can demonstrate the right commercial and digital track record.

What's in it for you?

This is an opportunity to build something rather than simply maintain it, with the support, resources and benefits you'd expect from an established and growing organisation.

You'll receive:

  • 32 days' annual leave.
  • Private health insurance.
  • Enhanced pension contributions.
  • The opportunity to work across a diverse portfolio of established and growing brands.
  • A senior role with genuine scope to influence strategy and commercial performance.

Ready to make your mark?

If you're the kind of marketer who gets excited by growth, data, brands, audiences and the question "what if we tried this?", we'd like to hear from you.

This is a rare opportunity to join an organisation with established brands, loyal audiences and strong foundations — while having the freedom to help shape its next chapter.
