Head of Marketing — build the function, own two SaaS brands

100% remote (UK) · £60–70k base + bonus (OTE up to ~£80k) · reporting directly to the founder.

We're a profitable, founder-led SaaS company running two brands, and we've just brought marketing in-house after years with an agency. We're looking for a Head of Marketing, our first marketing hire: someone who wants to own the whole thing, prove what works, and then hire their own team.

The Two Brands (and Why This Role is Interesting)

BackupVault is a sales-led B2B business at £2.1m+ revenue with 750+ customers, sub-1% monthly churn, and unit economics most marketers dream about (LTV:CAC ~9.5:1). We resell and manage leading backup and security technologies under one trusted brand. The growth engine is organic search plus high-intent paid. Your job: protect it, measure it properly, and scale it toward £4.5m+.

BackupLABS is our own-developed SaaS backup product, built and run on AWS, an early-stage, product-led, self-serve signups and free trials. It needs a proper PLG motion: intent-based acquisition (SEO, marketplaces, community), increasing ACV, activation and lifecycle work, and metrics that count paying subscribers, not trials. And there's a head start most early-stage products would kill for: 700+ existing BackupVault business customers as a warm cross-sell audience — barely touched so far.

Two brands, two genuinely different playbooks — sales-led and product-led — under one strategy that you own. If you've only ever run one of the two, you'll be stretched here. That's the point.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

What You'd Own

  • Marketing strategy, budget, and results for both brands. Reporting straight to the founder
  • The SEO/content engine (our biggest growth driver), with AI tooling and a specialist freelancer supporting you
  • Paid acquisition via our freelance Google Ads specialist. You set the targets and make the keep/kill calls
  • The PLG funnel for BackupLABS: onboarding emails, marketplace listings (Atlassian, GitHub, Shopify), and quality-first acquisition
  • Attribution and reporting: we want every pound and every lead traceable, and you'll have the mandate to make it so
  • Building the team: budget is approved for you to hire a marketing executive within your first 3–6 months

Being the First Hire — What That Actually Means

Let's be straight: there's no marketing team waiting for you. What there is instead:

  • Working channels and 25+ BackupVault leads/month and 30+ BackupLABS trials per month. You inherit a running engine, not a turnaround
  • Software including: PipeDrive, GA4/Console/GTM, Canva, Claude and ActiveCampaign
  • Freelance specialists in place (Google Ads managed, SEO, website) plus a brilliant team assistant for creative and coordination support
  • A documented strategy: per-brand marketing plans, a growth model, and KPIs already agreed with the founder
  • Real budget — for channels and for your first team hire, which you'll choose

The first few months are hands-on: you'll be writing briefs, editing content, and digging into analytics yourself while you shape the function. If you want to arrive and delegate, this isn't your role. If you want to build something and own the results, it's a rare one.

You're Probably a Fit If

  • You have 5+ years in B2B SaaS marketing and have owned a number, not just activity
  • You can talk fluently about both lead-gen economics (CAC, payback, LTV) and PLG metrics (activation, trial-to-paid, cost per subscriber)
  • You're analytical by default: GA4, Search Console, UTMs, and cohort thinking are second nature
  • You've grown an organic/SEO engine and can brief, edit, and ship content at pace (we use AI tools heavily and expect you to)
  • You're energized, not put off, by being employee #1 in a function

Package

  • £60,000–£70,000 base depending on experience, plus up to £10,000 annual bonus against agreed growth metrics. OTE up to ~£80k
  • 100% remote (UK) with occasional team meetups if required
  • Direct line to the founder, real autonomy, and the chance to build a marketing function your way — with the results visibly yours
  • A real progression path: build the team, move the number, and Marketing Director is the natural next step

How to Apply

Send a CV plus a short note (bullet points welcome) answering one question: tell us about a marketing number you owned, what you did to move it, and how you knew your work was what moved it. No cover-letter essays required.
