About The Company
Our client is a venture backed blockchain infrastructure company in London, around 25 people, that builds roughly half of all blocks on Ethereum.
In plain terms: everything anyone does on chain creates a transaction. Those transactions are assembled into blocks, and validators process them every 12 seconds. Our client builds those blocks. It is the point in the chain where most of the revenue is generated, and it is invisible to almost everyone who benefits from it.
Transaction flow reaches them two ways, through the public mempool and through private order flow, and the business is now expanding in two directions at once. Vertically, across the supply chain: from the user creating the transaction, to routing it, to building the block, to the open source products validators use to connect. And horizontally, across other chains. The closer the company gets to the end user, the more consumer facing it becomes, and the clearer the path from infrastructure company to trading platform.
About The Role
The company has built something a large share of Ethereum depends on and says almost nothing about it publicly. There is no real communications output anywhere. They have been building in a vacuum, and this hire exists to end that.
This is the most senior marketing seat in the business and, for now, the only one. You will report to the founders, own the function outright and have scope to hire under you later. In practice it is a CMO role at an early stage company, with the work split between deciding what the company says and writing most of it yourself.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

The job is to build awareness from a standing start and then control the narrative: what the company stands for, which themes it owns, and how it shows up in conversations that are currently happening without it.
Three audiences, all of which need to be served at once:
- Institutional, which in this market means trading firms and sophisticated counterparties
- Developers, who will check the technical claims before they believe any of them
- Crypto native and degen users, who respond to speed, presence and tone
What You Will Own
- Company positioning and narrative, across the business and across each product
- Narrative pillars: the two to four themes the company anchors itself to and returns to repeatedly
- Awareness and share of voice across Ethereum, the L2 landscape and the chains the company expands into next
- Institutional facing communications and collateral, supporting the commercial side of the business
- Content and research output, including long form explainers that make block building legible to people who do not already understand it
- Social presence and cadence across company and product accounts
- Event and conference strategy
- Competitive positioning, including tracking how rivals in the space talk about the same problems
- Direct work with engineers and founders to turn deeply technical output into something readable

Who You Are
- Five to ten years in marketing, communications or content, with the bulk of it in crypto
- Psychologically switched on. You read rooms and audiences quickly, know the narratives running through the market at any given moment, and understand why they took hold
- Crypto native, with a working grasp of MEV, block building, validators and the L1 and L2 landscape. You can talk to a protocol engineer without a translator
- From a technical crypto company where the product was genuinely hard to explain.
- A strong writer first. Published work matters more than campaign dashboards here
- Able to move between an institutional trading audience and an anonymous account on X in the same week without sounding false in either register
- Comfortable being the only marketer in the building, with no team to delegate to for the first stretch
- Candidates from large marketing organisations, where the work was one slice of a much bigger machine, are unlikely to fit
- London based and able to work from the office five days a week
