Hybrid: 3 days per week in the office, 2 days working remotely
Employment: Permanent, Full-Time
Salary: £60,000 - £65,000 per annum
About the Role
Working within Event Marketing, Haymarket's Marketing team supports a diverse portfolio of market-leading Haymarket Marketing Communications and Haymarket Professional events, serving professional B2B audiences across a range of specialist industries. The team plays a key role in growing audiences, strengthening customer engagement, supporting event attendance and commercial growth, and building the reputation and value of Haymarket's brands.
Marketing develops and delivers audience-focused strategies that support acquisition, engagement, retention and revenue growth. The function works closely with Editorial, Commercial, Product, Data, Events and other internal teams to understand customer needs, identify opportunities and deliver effective marketing activity that supports wider business objectives.
The Role
The Head of Marketing will provide strategic leadership across an assigned portfolio, developing and delivering marketing strategies that drive audience growth, event performance, customer engagement and commercial success.
Reporting to the Marketing Director, the role will translate wider business objectives into clear marketing plans, priorities and activity across the portfolio.
The role will lead and develop the marketing team, providing direction, coaching and support while building a high-performing, collaborative and commercially focused function.
Working closely with senior stakeholders across Editorial, Commercial, Product, Data, Events and Brand, the Head of Marketing will identify opportunities to strengthen customer propositions, develop new audiences and maximise the value of existing ones.
The role will use market intelligence, customer insight and performance data to inform strategic decisions, improve marketing effectiveness and ensure activity delivers measurable value.
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
Marketing Strategy & Commercial Growth
- Develop and deliver the overall marketing strategy for the portfolio, aligning priorities with Haymarket's wider business and commercial objectives.
- Lead annual marketing planning across audience acquisition, attendee growth, engagement, retention and brand development.
- Use market trends, customer insight and performance data to identify new audiences, channels, propositions and commercial opportunities.
- Take strategic ownership of the customer journey, identifying opportunities to improve acquisition, conversion, engagement and customer lifetime value.
- Work closely with Commercial, Editorial and Product teams to develop opportunities that support subscription growth, lead generation and revenue diversification.
- Ensure brands have clear and differentiated propositions that reflect audience needs, market positioning and strategic priorities.
Team, Budget & Operational Leadership
- Lead, motivate and develop the marketing team, providing clear direction, coaching and support while encouraging ownership, collaboration and continuous improvement.
- Establish clear priorities, ways of working and performance expectations, supporting effective performance management and development.
- Own and manage the marketing budget, ensuring investment is aligned to strategic priorities and delivers strong value and return.
- Ensure marketing plans and projects are effectively resourced and delivered to a high standard, within agreed budgets and timelines.
- Share knowledge and best practice across the wider Marketing function and contribute to the development of marketing capability across Haymarket.
Data, Performance & Stakeholder Leadership
- Use audience and campaign data to evaluate performance, inform decision-making and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Establish and monitor appropriate marketing KPIs, using insight to optimise campaigns, customer journeys and marketing investment.
- Lead a culture of testing and continuous improvement across marketing channels, propositions and campaigns.
- Build strong relationships with senior stakeholders across Editorial, Commercial, Product, Data, Events, Technology and other central functions, providing clear marketing insight and recommendations.
- Represent Marketing at relevant senior leadership forums and contribute to wider business planning and strategic initiatives.
- Keep abreast of developments in B2B marketing, technology and customer behaviour to ensure Haymarket's marketing approach remains relevant and competitive.

Key Relationships
- Works closely with the Marketing Director, Marketing leadership team and senior stakeholders across Editorial, Commercial, Product, Data, Events, Technology and Brand, while leading the marketing team and working with external agencies, suppliers and partners to deliver marketing strategies, identify growth opportunities and support wider business objectives.

Knowledge
- Strong understanding of B2B marketing, ideally within a Awards, Conferences and Forums.
- Strong knowledge of customer lifecycle marketing, including acquisition, conversion, engagement, retention and renewal.
- Understanding of audience development, customer segmentation and data-led marketing.
- Good knowledge of digital marketing channels, CRM, marketing automation, analytics and performance measurement.
- Understanding of commercial drivers and how marketing contributes to revenue, customer value and business growth.
Skills
- Strong strategic marketing and commercial thinking, with the ability to translate business objectives into effective marketing strategies.
- Excellent leadership and people management skills, with the ability to motivate, develop and empower a team.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and turn insight into clear recommendations.

Experience
- Significant background in a senior marketing role, ideally within B2B media or professional information.
- A strong track record of developing and delivering marketing strategies that support audience, customer and commercial growth.
- Proven ability to lead, manage and develop marketing teams, including setting priorities and supporting individual performance.
- Strong commercial understanding of marketing budgets, performance data and return on investment.
- Demonstrated success in leading complex, cross-functional projects and influencing senior stakeholders.
- Strong understanding of customer acquisition, retention and lifecycle marketing within an events or recurring-revenue environment.
- Proven ability to identify and develop new audiences, propositions, channels and commercial opportunities.
