Head of Marketing and Growth
Location: Remote / Home-based (UK) with occasional UK travel for team meetings and events (typically around once a month)
Salary: Circa £65,000 FTE, depending on experience
Hours: Full-time or part-time (minimum 30 hours per week)
About the Role
Want to build a marketing and growth function where you can actually see the difference your work makes? We’re looking for a Head of Marketing and Growth to join Fitzgerald and take ownership of how we generate new opportunities, build our pipeline and turn great marketing into new client relationships.
This is a senior role with real influence across the business. You’ll shape our marketing and growth strategy, decide where we focus our time and investment, lead our People Specialist (Growth), work closely with our Managing Director and service teams, and manage our external marketing partners.
But this isn’t a role where you’ll simply set the strategy and hand everything over to someone else. We’re a growing business and with a small marketing and growth team, so we’re looking for someone who genuinely enjoys being hands-on. One day you might be looking at pipeline and conversion data or shaping how we take a new service to market; another you could be refining a campaign, working on a piece of content, reviewing paid advertising or getting into WordPress, Drip or Canva yourself.
If you like having both the autonomy to shape the bigger picture and the opportunity to get stuck into making it happen, you’ll probably enjoy it here.
About Us
Fitzgerald is a full-service HR consultancy. We work with organisations across a huge range of sectors, providing everything from outsourced HR and employee relations support to recruitment, reward, learning and development and people technology.
We started in 2008 with an ambition to build a team full of great HR and people specialists who really knew their stuff, cared about doing a brilliant job and could make a genuine difference to the businesses we worked with.
That’s still what we’re about today.
We’re a team with a supportive, collaborative culture, high standards and plenty of ambition. We care about doing brilliant work for our clients, but we also care about the people doing it.
What You’ll Be Doing
You’ll take the lead on marketing and growth at Fitzgerald. That will include:
- Setting our marketing and growth strategy and turning it into clear, practical plans.
- Building a consistent pipeline of high-quality new business opportunities.
- Understanding where our best opportunities come from and making decisions about where we should invest our time and budget.
- Developing campaigns across organic, paid, partnerships, events, referrals and other channels, and testing new approaches.
- Tracking the full journey from lead to win and identifying where we can improve conversion.
- Making sure our positioning and messaging clearly communicate what makes Fitzgerald different and why clients should work with us.
- Working with our service teams to turn their expertise and ideas into compelling propositions, campaigns and content.
- Bringing marketing and business development together so opportunities don't disappear between the two.
- Leading and developing our People Specialist (Growth), setting clear priorities and helping them do their best work.
- Managing our external marketing partners and specialists and making sure we're getting a strong return from our investment.
- Staying close enough to the work to roll your sleeves up and get involved when needed.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
Start with a chat, not a search bar
Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
Graduate Consultant — 2026 Scheme
Why you're a good match
StrongYour economics background and your summer at a regional bank line up with what PwC looks for on the consulting scheme. Applications close in four weeks.
See breakdownIt searches the market for you
Every day your agent scans the market matching roles against what actually matters to you, not just keywords on a CV.
Why you're a good match
You’ve got the grades and the economics background, and your bank internship is exactly the experience this scheme looks for. Apply soon — deadlines close within the month.
Experience fit
Your summer at the bank plus your econometrics coursework map directly to the day-one responsibilities on this scheme — client modelling, market briefings, and deal support.
Only hits
No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
Ultimately, when pipeline is inconsistent, conversion drops, messaging isn't landing or activity isn't delivering, you'll take ownership of understanding why and doing something about it.
What We’re Looking For
You'll already have significant experience in marketing, growth or revenue generation within a B2B environment.
You'll understand that successful marketing isn't just about reach, engagement or producing great content. You'll be commercially minded and interested in what happens next: Did it generate the right opportunity? Did that opportunity progress? Did we win the work? What did it cost us to get there?
You'll also be someone who can move comfortably between thinking and doing. You don't need a big team around you to make things happen, and you're as happy getting into the detail as you are presenting a growth strategy.
You'll ideally bring:
- A track record of generating and managing B2B pipeline and improving conversion.
- Strong commercial judgement and an understanding of how marketing contributes to revenue.
- Experience bringing marketing and business development together.
- Confidence using data to understand performance and decide what to do next.
- Experience managing marketing budgets and understanding ROI.
- Strong positioning, proposition and messaging skills.
- Experience leading and developing people and managing external partners.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work with senior colleagues and specialists across a business.
- Confidence using CRM, marketing and performance-tracking systems.
- Curiosity and a willingness to test, learn and change course when something isn't working.

Experience within consultancy, professional services or HR/people services would be useful, but it really isn't essential. We're more interested in whether you understand how to market and grow a relationship-led B2B service.
What It’s Like to Work at Fitzgerald
We're serious about doing great work, but we don't believe that needs to mean rigid ways of working or being watched over.
We're predominantly remote and trust people to manage their time in a way that works for them, their team and our clients. You'll have plenty of autonomy, but you won't be left on your own. Collaboration and genuinely showing up for one another are a big part of how we work.
We also believe every day's a school day. If you want to deepen your expertise, learn something new or find a better way of doing something, we'll support you.
And because we're still growing, you'll have the opportunity to shape not just our marketing, but what the Marketing and Growth function becomes next.
What You’ll Get from Us
Alongside a salary of circa £65,000 FTE, you'll receive:
- 25 days' annual leave, rising to 27 after one year and 29 after two years, plus bank holidays
- Flexible working patterns
- Enhanced family leave and pay
- Company sick pay
- Monthly homeworking allowance and all equipment provided
- 4% employer pension contribution, with salary sacrifice options
- Life assurance at four times basic salary
- Medicash health cash plan
- 24/7 Employee Assistance Programme
- Unlimited 24/7 remote GP appointments
- Support for relevant professional qualifications and ongoing development
- Shopping discounts, flu vaccinations, cycle-to-work scheme and other health and wellbeing benefits
Interested?
We don't expect you to tick every single box.
What matters to us is that you're commercially minded, curious, comfortable taking ownership and excited by the idea of building a marketing and growth function rather than simply inheriting one.
If that sounds like you, we'd love to hear from you. Click Apply, and you will be redirected to our careers site.
