We are retained by an established, international B2B technology business to appoint a Head of Marketing to build and lead its next-generation marketing function.
Our client is an established technical business with a strong market position, global customers, and ambitious growth plans following recent investment. They are now taking a fundamentally different approach to marketing: building an AI-native, demand-generation-led function designed for leverage.
This is an opportunity for a genuinely entrepreneurial marketing leader to build the function from the ground up.
The Role
Reporting to the CCO, you will own the marketing strategy, operating model, and execution, with a clear mandate to make marketing a measurable contributor to commercial growth.
Key priorities will include:
- Developing the overall marketing strategy, positioning, and brand
- Building an AI-enabled marketing engine, deploying AI tools, agents, and automation across content, demand generation, and intelligence
- Owning demand generation and marketing contribution to pipeline
- Developing CRM, data, and marketing systems to support sales and build valuable demand-generation assets
- Building a differentiated presence in a highly technical B2B market, including visibility within AI/LLM-generated search and recommendations
- Leading and developing a small, high-performing marketing team
- Using data and commercial insight to demonstrate marketing impact to the executive team

The Candidate
We are seeking an experienced B2B marketing leader with a demonstrable track record of generating demand and contributing to revenue growth.
Crucially, you will be genuinely hands-on with AI. We are looking for someone who is already using AI tools, automation, and emerging technologies to change how marketing operates.
You are likely to bring:
- Senior B2B marketing experience, ideally within a technical, complex-product environment
- Strong demand-generation and pipeline experience
- Hands-on use of AI, automation, and modern marketing technology
- Experience building or transforming CRM, data, and demand-generation infrastructure
- A track record of delivering significant output with lean teams
- A builder/operator mentality, with a willingness to challenge conventional marketing models
- Experience managing distributed or international teams and stakeholders
- The credibility to operate with senior commercial and executive leadership

Experience across life sciences, scientific instrumentation, industrial technology, advanced manufacturing, or related technical markets would be advantageous, but sector experience is secondary to the quality of the candidate's B2B, commercial, and AI-native experience.
Location
Cambridge area strongly preferred, with an expectation of being in the office approximately three days per week.
The role will involve regular international travel, including to European operations, customers, and industry events.
The Opportunity
This is a build rather than maintain mandate.
The successful candidate will have the autonomy to shape the marketing strategy, technology stack, team structure, and operating model — with the backing of an ambitious, well-funded business.
