About the Role

We're looking for an experienced and commercially minded marketing leader to shape the future direction of our marketing function while leading our Retail Marketing team.

This is a high impact leadership role where you'll be responsible for translating business priorities into customer focused marketing strategies that drive growth across our retail brands. You'll own the marketing strategy, annual planning process, campaign governance, budget management and brand direction, ensuring our investment is focused on activity that delivers the greatest commercial impact.

Alongside this, you'll lead and develop a talented Retail Marketing team, creating a high performing culture that delivers outstanding campaigns, communications and customer experiences across our symbol brands, including Premier, Londis, Budgens and Family Shopper.

Working closely with senior stakeholders across Trading, Sales, Digital, Operations and Insight, you'll play a key role in shaping how marketing supports Booker's future growth ambitions.

You will be responsible for

  • Developing and leading the annual marketing strategy and roadmap
  • Translating business objectives into clear, prioritised marketing plans
  • Owning quarterly and annual marketing planning processes
  • Leading campaign governance and managing the master marketing calendar
  • Ensuring marketing investment and resources are focused on the highest value opportunities
  • Managing the marketing function budget and driving marketing effectiveness
  • Leading our MarTech strategy and identifying opportunities to leverage AI, automation and personalisation
  • Leading, inspiring and developing a team of marketing professionals
  • Defining and delivering retail marketing strategies that support business growth
  • Protecting, evolving and enhancing our portfolio of retail brands
  • Collaborating across the business to deliver impactful customer communications and campaigns
  • Driving continuous improvement in planning, prioritisation and ways of working

You will need

  • Significant experience operating in a senior marketing leadership role
  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to balance customer needs and business objectives
  • Proven experience developing marketing strategies that deliver measurable growth
  • Experience leading integrated, multi channel marketing campaigns
  • Strong understanding of customer insight, market trends and performance data
  • Experience managing significant marketing budgets and investment decisions
  • A track record of building high performing teams and developing talent
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence at senior levels
  • Experience transforming processes, operating models or ways of working to improve outcomes
  • A collaborative leadership style and the ability to bring teams together behind a shared vision
