Head of Marketing | Aerospace & Defence

£70,000 – £80,000 + benefits
UK based | Remote / flexible location | Regular UK travel

I’m partnering exclusively with a private equity-backed aerospace and defence manufacturing group at a genuinely exciting point in its growth journey.

The business is building a UK-wide contract manufacturing platform through acquisition, bringing together specialist engineering businesses to create a differentiated proposition for some of the world’s leading aerospace and defence organisations.

With ambitious plans to grow to circa £300m turnover over the next five years, they are now looking to appoint their first permanent Head of Marketing.

This isn’t a role where you’ll inherit a large team, established playbook and fully formed marketing function. It’s an opportunity to build it.

Working closely with the senior leadership and Business Development team, you’ll shape how the group goes to market, bringing together acquired businesses with different capabilities, customers and levels of marketing maturity.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

You’ll have ownership across:

  • Brand strategy and positioning, creating a clear and differentiated group proposition
  • Marketing strategy and integrated campaigns
  • HubSpot implementation, CRM and lead generation
  • Technical content and thought leadership, turning complex engineering into compelling commercial stories
  • Sales enablement, including pitch decks, bids and collateral for major opportunities
  • Major industry exhibitions and events
  • Internal communications and engagement across acquired businesses
  • Over time, developing stronger market intelligence and customer insight capabilities

The role needs someone equally comfortable setting the strategy and rolling their sleeves up to deliver it. The business is deliberately lean, so initially there won’t be a marketing team underneath you. You’ll have access to external partners, but you need to enjoy creating, building and making things happen yourself.

I’m particularly interested in speaking to marketers who have operated within aerospace, defence, advanced engineering, manufacturing or another technically complex B2B environment.

You might already be a Head of Marketing, or you could be an ambitious senior marketer ready to take ownership of a function and continue your trajectory towards Marketing Director level.

You need to be able to get under the skin of complex products and engineering capabilities and translate them into messaging that customers actually understand.

This is a rare opportunity to join early, build marketing almost from the ground up and play a meaningful role in the growth of an ambitious, acquisition-led business.
