Head of Marketplaces

Location: Bolton, Greater Manchester - Hybrid working

Salary: Circa £60,000 plus performance-related bonus

Employment type: Permanent, full-time

The opportunity:

A fast-growing international e-commerce business is looking for an experienced Head of Marketplaces to lead and scale its global marketplace operation.

Reporting into the senior leadership team, you will take ownership of marketplace strategy and commercial performance across established consumer brands and third-party product ranges. The business currently operates across platforms including Amazon, eBay and Temu, with significant plans to expand into new markets and channels.

This is a highly commercial role with responsibility for growing marketplace revenue from approximately £8m towards £30m while maintaining strong contribution margins.

Key responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver the global marketplace growth strategy.
  • Own revenue, profitability and performance across all marketplace channels.
  • Accelerate growth across Amazon, eBay, Temu and other relevant platforms.
  • Expand the business across the UK, Europe, North America and additional international markets.
  • Identify and launch new countries and marketplace channels quickly and profitably.
  • Lead marketplace advertising, promotions, pricing and commercial planning.
  • Optimise product listings, content, availability, reviews and organic visibility.
  • Manage forecasting, inventory performance, compliance and marketplace account health.
  • Establish clear reporting across sales, advertising, margin and operational performance.
  • Recruit, manage and develop a small team of Marketplace Executives.
  • Work closely with e-commerce, marketing, product, finance and supply-chain teams.

About you:

  • Significant experience managing and growing consumer brands on Amazon.
  • A proven track record of scaling marketplace revenue, ideally within the £1m to £50m range.
  • Strong knowledge of Amazon advertising, operations and account management.
  • Experience launching new marketplaces, territories or international channels.
  • Commercial understanding of contribution margin, stock and profitable growth.
  • Strong analytical skills and confidence making decisions using performance data.
  • An effective people manager who is also comfortable working hands-on.
  • International marketplace experience, particularly across Europe or North America.
