Head of Media
Location: Birmingham (Flexible hybrid - 1 day in office)
Salary: £55,000 - £65,000
The Company
A Birmingham-based, well-established, full-service marketing agency with over 50 years in the industry and a team of 55 specialists across media, creative, strategy, SEO, paid, social and development.
Wholly independent and owner-operated, they’ve built a strong reputation on genuine client retention and award-winning work - recognised nationally for both their business performance and campaign delivery.
Their sweet spot is ambitious brands in building, construction, home and garden, sectors they know deeply and where they consistently punch above their weight. It’s a focused, deliberate positioning and it works.
The Role
This is a Head of Media role leading the media output for the agency’s largest and most strategically important client - a major international brand with a UK media budget in the region of £6m-£8m.
You’ll take ownership of media planning and buying across the full channel mix - TV and broadcast is the focus, but additionally with OOH, paid search, programmatic and performance - while leading a team of three and reporting directly into the MD.
This is not a role for someone wanting to rebuild from scratch. The foundations are strong, the client relationship is well-established and the 2027 planning cycle is already underway. What’s needed is an experienced media leader who can step in, get up to speed quickly, and deliver with confidence and consistency from day one, then build for the future.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
