Job Opportunity at a British Heritage Brand
V&C Associates are delighted and excited to be partnering with a British heritage brand founded in 1812, holder of multiple Royal Warrants, and known worldwide for its bespoke craftsmanship and luxury goods — now entering an ambitious new phase of global growth.
What's on offer isn't a slot in an existing team. It's the chance to build the merchandising function from the ground up, reporting directly to the CEO, and set the playbook this business runs on for years to come.
As Head of Merchandising, you will act as the business lead for merchandising, inventory management, forecasting and category planning across our own-brand and third-party portfolio. You will improve stock productivity, profitability and commercial decision-making, while establishing the disciplines that will let this heritage business scale with confidence — a genuine opportunity to leave your own mark on a 200-year story.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop annual, seasonal and category merchandise plans, forecasts and replenishment strategies.
- Manage inventory investment to balance availability, profitability and working capital.
- Analyse sales, margin, sell-through, stock turn, ageing, cover and category performance.
- Support buying through range planning, assortment analysis, demand forecasting and open-to-buy control.
- Manage supplier performance, production schedules, lead times and delivery risk.
- Build clear reporting and dashboards that translate data into practical commercial actions.
- Identify opportunities to reduce aged stock, improve margin and increase category profitability.
- Establish and embed best-practice merchandising processes across the business.
- Provide commercial insight to product development, marketing, retail and ecommerce teams.
- Support new product launches, category development, channel growth and wider expansion plans.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
