Talentmark is recruiting for a Head of MS&T

To join a leading specialist pharmaceutical company at its manufacturing site in North Yorkshire.

This is a senior site leadership role, responsible for providing technical leadership across Manufacturing Science & Technology (MS&T), including product and process development and validation activities.

Head of MS&T Role

Act as the MS&T leader for the manufacturing site and the accountable decision maker for technical matters.

  • Provide technical leadership and direct line management to the site MS&T team, ensuring technical direction is delivered effectively across the organisation.
  • Become a key member of the Site Leadership Team, contributing technical expertise to site-wide decision making.
  • Lead product and technology transfers into the site from contract manufacturing organisations, other manufacturing sites or between production lines.
  • Provide technical leadership for the industrialisation of new products, working closely with wider development and technical teams.
  • Lead technical aspects of manufacturing optimisation and transfer projects for existing commercial products.
  • Provide technical leadership for manufacturing troubleshooting, process evaluation and the introduction of new manufacturing equipment and technologies.
  • Identify and implement formulation and process optimisation opportunities to improve product quality, process capability and robustness.
  • Provide technical support to manufacturing operations and lead the resolution of production-related issues affecting commercial products.
  • Evaluate and qualify alternative raw material sources where required to support process and product improvements.
  • Proactively identify and resolve formulation and process-related issues within manufacturing operations.
  • Lead, develop and motivate the site MS&T team, supporting employee performance, development and engagement.
  • Promote collaboration, knowledge sharing and consistent technical practices across the wider organisation and sister sites.

Your Background

  • Hold a BSc, MSc or PhD in life sciences, engineering, pharmaceutics, chemistry or a related scientific discipline.
  • Strong industrial experience within the pharmaceutical, biopharmaceutical or related industry, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Practical knowledge and experience of pharmaceutical manufacturing science and technology (MS&T).
  • Experience in the development and scale-up of drug products.
  • Practical, hands-on knowledge of small molecule and/or biological pharmaceutical manufacturing and development.
  • Proven experience providing technical leadership within a manufacturing or pharmaceutical environment.
  • Demonstrated experience leading and developing a scientific or technical team.
  • Strong problem-solving and technical assessment skills, with the ability to lead the resolution of complex manufacturing and process-related issues.
  • Experience with technology transfer, manufacturing optimisation, process improvement and/or product industrialisation would be highly beneficial.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to provide clear technical direction to both specialist teams and the wider site organisation.
