Head of Nuclear Security
Step into a role where your leadership and security expertise contribute to work that genuinely matters. In this role, you will be a key member of our Leadership team, shaping the future of Nuclear Security while influencing decisions at the highest levels of the business. At EDF, success is personal and we will support you to build a career that is meaningful to you.
The Opportunity
As Head of Nuclear Security, you will join our Nuclear Services business – our technical centre of excellence, which supports our fleet of nuclear power stations and our nuclear new-build projects. You will lead the security function, work with the other delivery functions and with the Licensees providing direction, oversight and assurance across a business that supports some of the UK’s most important energy programmes.
Alongside a competitive salary and potential for annual bonus, this role is based at Gloucester Business Park, with the expectation to work in the office a minimum of 2 days per week, alongside visits to other nuclear sites on a weekly basis. You will be part of a collaborative leadership team, helping to shape strategy while maintaining the highest standards of security and compliance.
Your expertise will guide the business through complex regulatory requirements, strengthen security governance and build trusted relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including regulators, industry wide experts and government bodies.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
