The Opportunity

We are seeking an established Senior Oil Broker / Head of Desk to lead and grow an oil broking desk within an ambitious and expanding brokerage.

This is a senior hire for an individual with a proven track record in the oil markets, an established network of relationships and the commercial drive to build and lead a successful desk.

The role would suit an existing Head of Oil / Head of Desk looking for a new platform, or a highly successful senior oil broker ready to step into a leadership position and build a business around their market expertise and client relationships.

The Role

You will take ownership of the oil broking business, with responsibility for generating revenue, developing the client franchise and building out a high-performing team.

Your remit will include:

  • Leading and developing the oil broking desk.
  • Managing and expanding relationships with major trading houses, oil companies, refiners, producers, funds and other institutional market participants.
  • Driving new business and increasing market share across the firm's oil offering.
  • Originating and executing transactions across relevant oil markets and products.
  • Developing a strong pipeline of new clients and counterparties.
  • Building, mentoring and attracting high-calibre brokers to the desk.
  • Taking ownership of desk strategy, revenue generation and commercial development.
  • Identifying opportunities to expand the firm's presence across the oil markets.
  • Representing the business at a senior level across the industry.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

The Opportunity to Build

This is more than a senior broking seat.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to shape and build the oil business, with significant autonomy over strategy, client development and team growth.

For an established Head of Desk, this offers the opportunity to take an existing track record and client franchise to a new platform.

For a senior broker ready to make the step up, it offers the opportunity to build and lead their own desk, with the backing and infrastructure of an established brokerage.

If you are an established oil broker, currently leading a desk or ready to take that next step, we would be interested in speaking with you.

All discussions will be treated in the strictest confidence.
