Head of Europe Patent Operation

Job Summary
The Head of Europe Patent Operation will lead and oversee all patent-related operational activities in the European region. This role is pivotal in ensuring seamless project delivery, client satisfaction, and operational excellence. The candidate will work closely with sales teams to support client engagements, manage patent workflows, and drive continuous improvement in service delivery.
Based in Europe and operating within European time zones, the Head of Europe Patent Operation will collaborate with global teams to align strategies and optimize cross-regional operations.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the end-to-end patent operation lifecycle in Europe, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
- Oversee patent translation projects, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and compliance with regional requirements.
- Manage European patent validation processes, including coordination with legal teams, translators, and regulatory bodies.
- Supervise patent filing process management, from initial documentation to submission and follow-up with patent offices.
- Collaborate closely with sales teams to understand client needs, prepare proposals, and ensure successful project delivery.
- Implement and optimize workflows, tools, and technologies to enhance operational efficiency and scalability.
- Provide regular updates to clients and internal stakeholders, ensuring transparency and alignment throughout the project lifecycle.
- Resolve operational challenges proactively and contribute to the development of best practices in patent operations.
- Prepare operational reports and analyze performance metrics to drive data-informed decision-making.
- Foster strong relationships with cross-functional teams, including Sales, Legal, and Technology, to support business growth and client success.

Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Project Management, Law, Intellectual Property, Engineering, Life Sciences, or a related field. A background in patent law or patent agency is highly desirable.
- Proven experience in patent operations, including translation, validation, and filing processes within the European region.
- Proficiency with patent-specific tools and software (e.g., patent management systems, CAT tools for translation, document management platforms).
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) for reporting and analysis.

- Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage teams and drive operational excellence.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with fluency in English. Additional European languages (e.g., German, French) are a plus.
- Exceptional client-facing skills, with a proactive and solution-oriented approach.
- In-depth understanding of patent regulations and processes in key European markets.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Agile and adaptable, with a keen interest in technology and process innovation.
- Proven problem-solving abilities and a track record of improving operational workflows.
- Comfortable working within European time zones and collaborating with global teams across different regions.
Experience Required
- 5+ years of experience in patent operations, with at least 2 years in a leadership or managerial role. Experience in the European patent landscape is essential.
- Required Language Level:
- Fluent in English. Proficiency in additional European languages is highly advantageous.
