About the role
Bridging Barriers is at an exciting transition point.
We have grown significantly, supporting thousands of young people while building a predominantly volunteer-led team. We now need a strong operational leader to help us build the structure, accountability and systems required for our next stage of growth.
As Head of Operations, you will be our senior paid operational lead. You will work closely with our Founder & CEO and department leads to strengthen how the organisation operates and reduce day-to-day dependency on the CEO.
This is a hands-on role. We need someone who can identify what isn't working, bring people together and actually implement improvements.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

We're interested in evidence, not just impressive job titles. We want to understand what you've personally owned, what you've improved and the impact you've had. This reflects the recruitment roadmap's emphasis on proven ability, leadership, judgement and evidence of impact.
The opportunity
You'll have real autonomy and responsibility.
