Role Description

The Head of Operations – Engineering is a full-time, on-site role based in West Byfleet, responsible for overseeing day-to-day operational performance across machining, production, and engineering functions. This role leads planning and coordination of CNC operations, ensures effective use of resources, and drives on-time delivery, quality, and safety standards. The Head of Operations will manage and develop engineering and production teams, implement continuous improvement initiatives, and support the integration of new equipment, technologies, and processes.

Daily activities include:

  • Monitoring key performance indicators

Qualifications

  • Strong Operations Management skills, including production planning, process optimization, and continuous improvement in a precision engineering or manufacturing environment.
  • Solid Analytical Skills to interpret operational data, monitor KPIs, and make evidence-based decisions that improve efficiency and quality.
  • Proven Team Management capabilities, including leadership, performance management, and coaching of multidisciplinary engineering and production teams.
  • Excellent Communication skills to collaborate effectively with colleagues, customers, and suppliers, and to clearly convey technical and operational information.
  • Budgeting skills to manage operational costs, forecast resource needs, and support investment planning for equipment and staffing.

Highly beneficial:

  • Experience in CNC machining, precision engineering, or similar high-tolerance manufacturing environments.
  • Relevant qualifications in engineering, manufacturing, or operations management (e.g., degree or equivalent experience), along with knowledge of quality, health and safety, and lean methodologies.
  • Ability to work on-site in West Byfleet and to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced, customer-focused setting.
