Position Summary

Samsung Networks is a industry leader in Open RAN with commercial deployments in Asia, US, Canada and the EU markets.

As part of our continued expansion across Europe, Samsung Networks Europe is looking to hire an experienced and highly motivated Head of Operation to oversee the delivery of 2G/4G and 5G Open Radio Access Network with customers. You will manage and oversee the Design, System Introduction and Test verification of our Solution and in-life operations including management of our Technical Assistance Centre by building a best in class organisation which will excel in the delivery of complex Operations.

You will be responsible for leading the team in the Operation of multi-year highly complex projects. You should be comfortable in working in a fast-paced environment and contributing to innovative solutions while demonstrating leadership, technical knowledge and attention to detail.

This role requires a person with a strong background in wireless networks and/or Operator IT environments.

This is an exciting opportunity for the right candidate who can demonstrate a proven track record in delivering complex mobile network operations and has extensive experience in creating and maintaining highly satisfied customers.

The on-boarding timeline for this role is expected to be Q3 2026.

Role and Responsibilities

Your key responsibilities

Working closely with the Suwon SI team, peer Service teams and Solution teams you will assume the following responsibilities:

  • Functional management of a team consisting of Design, System Introduction, Test & Verification and Network Support professionals
  • Successfully execute Open RAN Design, Systems deployment and verification, Test & Acceptance, lifecycle management activities and in-life support
  • Support recruitment, strategic development, training and process development
  • Recruit, train, mentor and develop top Technical talent
  • Responsible for standards and tools used by the team including productivity AI utilisation
  • Work in close concert with Suwon SI team, Service teams, Solution Teams
  • Plan, budget, and allocate staff to support multiple programs.
  • Establish appropriate governance, ensuring key stakeholders are identified and appropriately engaged, and clear decision-making process in place
  • Ensure establishment of execution plans throughout the life-cycle, change is controlled, dependencies identified and risks & issues are managed
  • Build and maintain excellent customer relationships from the outset within the customer organisation leading to a highly engaged and satisfied customer that maximises the chances of further opportunities & growth
  • Support Pre-Sales activities in the Design, System Introduction & Verification, Test & Acceptance, Lifecycle Management and Support
  • You will work closely with our customers in defining your teams deliverables and associated timelines and you will own the Design, System Introduction, Test & Verification and life cycle planning with Suwon
  • You will work with key stakeholders to ensure all milestones are achieved and communicated
  • Responsible for development and management of all process/procedures associated with the the Operational functions
  • Provide regular internal & customer reporting to all stakeholders including progress, risks, issues & milestone adherence
  • Ownership for the Operational Governance including the Operational Review meetings with the customer and internal alignment meetings
  • Ownership of the Operational RACI ensuring any updates are communicated both internally and with the customer
  • Responsible for all Operational SLA’s and associated risk/issue management
  • Responsible for Design, System Introduction, Test & Acceptance and lifecycle phases and interface points to both customer and Samsung internal functions
  • Manage your resource plan ensuring that the Samsung organisation is enabled in an effective and timely manner to avoid jeopardising the execution of your tasks.
  • Support the pre-sales function in dimensioning resources for pre-sales activities across your domains ownership
  • Own the planning activities with Samsung RnD in Suwon to ensuring the plan is achieved, risks and issues managed and all stakeholders are aware of progress
  • You will be well versed and have experience working in a on-shore, near-shore and offshore Operational model

What we need for this role

To be successful, you will possess the following skills and attributes:

  • Educated to Degree Level, preferably in Telecoms, Electronics or Computer Science/IT
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a Lead role in the telecom/IT sector
  • Proven track record in the Design, System Introduction, Test & Acceptance and lifecycle phases for Open Radio Access Network Delivery
  • Proven experience in working with large scale multi-functional teams in the delivery of complex IT and Core Telco projects
  • Proven customer and stakeholder managements skills
  • Proven ability to support pre-sales and upselling activities
  • An excellent understanding of the relationship between supplier and customer during program delivery, with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar role.
  • Exceptional communicator both internally and towards the customer senior level
  • Excellent organisational skills and an ability to anticipate customer’s needs and act accordingly
  • Excellent level of presentation, communication and planning skills.
  • Ability to prepare & deliver Operational plans and associated updates to a high standard within tight timescales.
  • Highly effective leader who recognises the power of a positive team environment in delivering results
  • Fluent in spoken and written English
  • Excellent report writing skills
  • Exceptional ability to navigate large and complex organisations to build relationships and influencing capabilities
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills

Successful execution of projects meeting customer targets and SLA’s

  • You will have succeeded in developing excellent customer relations and be seen both internally and by our customer as the key go to contact to ensure program success
  • You will have identified the key stakeholders for your activities and built strong relationships from the outset
  • You will have developed the Samsung Operational playbook in conjunction with customer and internal organisations and understand the key deliverables and dependencies throughout
  • You will have structured the execution of your activities with the customer and developed the means to communicate timeline adherence, risks, issues and mitigation plans
