Lead Our Operations & Transport Team at Company Shop Group

Are you an experienced operations leader who thrives on delivering results, developing people and driving operational excellence?
At Company Shop Group, we're looking for a Head of Operations & Transport to work closely with our operations Director, leading our warehousing, distribution and transport operations across ambient, chilled and frozen environments.
About Us
Company Shop Group (CSG), part of Biffa are the largest commercial redistributor of surplus food and household products in the UK. We enable some of the biggest retailers, manufacturers, food service and logistics providers to unlock value from surplus stock, which may have otherwise gone to waste. The surplus we handle is redistributed through our Company Shop stores and our award-winning social enterprise Community Shop where we build stronger individuals and more confident communities. What will you be doing?
As Head of Operations & Transport, you will be responsible for:
- Leading the safe and efficient day-to-day operation of packing, warehousing, storage and transport across ambient, chilled and frozen operations
- Working closely with commercial and supply teams to develop effective operational plans that support business growth
- Managing transport, storage and operational costs, ensuring performance is delivered against budgets and business objectives
- Driving productivity, service, quality and continuous improvement through clear operational KPIs
- Developing, coaching and empowering operational leaders and colleagues to create a high-performance culture
- Leading innovation, continuous improvement and capital investment initiatives to improve efficiency and service
- Ensuring compliance with Health & Safety, BRC and all relevant operational standards
- Building a strong leadership pipeline and developing talent across the operations function
Requirements
What are we looking for?
We're looking for an experienced senior leader with a background in operations, distribution or manufacturing, who can combine strategic thinking with practical, hands-on leadership.
You'll need to demonstrate:
- Previous experience operating at a senior leadership level within a complex operational environment
- A proven ability to inspire, motivate and engage teams, winning hearts and minds
- Strong commercial and financial acumen, with experience managing multiple teams, projects and budgets
- The ability to build credibility, trust and positive working relationships across the business
- A self-starter who is motivated to deliver strategy and drive meaningful change
- Strong communication and influencing skills, with the personal energy and commitment to lead from the front
- Demonstrable experience of leading change initiatives and delivering operational improvements
- A genuine passion for colleagues, people development and creating a positive working culture

Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, between 8:30am and 5:00pm. Flexibility is required to meet the needs of the business.
