Main duties of the job

The Head of Organ Donation Partnerships role is responsible for the leadership and delivery of Organ Donation partnerships within the Donor Experience directorate, with a primary focus on securing, implementing and optimising digital partnership opportunities that drive registrations to the NHS Organ Donor Register (ODR) at scale. The role is accountable for ensuring that partnerships, particularly those embedded within national digital and government services, deliver measurable increases in registrations and contribute to improving consent rates to meet patients’ needs, now and in the future. As a senior member of the Partnerships management team, the post holder will lead the delivery of the Organ Donation Partnerships component of the wider partnerships strategy.

The post holder will lead the development and delivery of plans for Organ Donation partnerships, with a strong emphasis on embedding organ donation prompts into high-volume digital journeys and public services. This includes ensuring alignment to NHSBT’s Marketing, Communications and Engagement Strategy, and developing robust short, medium and long-term plans to maximise the impact of digital integrations, increase registration rates and support improved patient outcomes. The post holder will be accountable for ensuring partners deliver against agreed objectives and for optimising the performance of digital prompts within these services, working in collaboration with marketing, digital and campaign teams.

Working closely with the NHSBT Organ Donor Register Team, the post holder will be accountable for delivering a significant proportion of NHSBT ODR registrations through Organ Donation partnership channels, with a particular focus on high-impact digital platforms such as NHS App, DVLA, government digital services and emerging cross-government solutions, ensuring these partnerships maximise reach, conversion and long-term value.

About You

Experience and Knowledge

  • Significant experience of partnership development, stakeholder management or project/programme management within a public, NHS, commercial or digital environment
  • Demonstrable experience of designing and delivering partnership activity or programmes that contribute to organisational objectives, including measurable outcomes and performance improvement.
  • Experience of working within a complex, multi-stakeholder environment, managing relationships across organisational and sector boundaries
  • Demonstrable experience of working with senior stakeholders, influencing decisions and securing agreement to deliver strategic objectives
  • Experience of delivering programmes involving digital integration, service delivery, or platform-based engagement (e.g. working with digital services, systems or high-volume customer journeys). Experience of analysing performance data and producing reports to inform senior stakeholders and support decision-making
  • Experience of managing budgets within a defined area and ensuring effective use of resources
  • Demonstrable experience of implementing service improvements, innovation or change programmes
  • Experience of working collaboratively across functions to deliver shared objectives
  • Experience of managing or supporting the development of staff or teams.
  • Demonstrates a working knowledge of computer packages e.g. word processing, spreadsheets, PowerPoint etc

Qualifications And Training

  • Significant demonstratable experience securing and delivering high level partnerships within a management role (equivalent to a master’s level qualification such as public sector management or marketing in a related specialism). Masters’ qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrate commitment to own and direct reports Continued Professional Development (CPD).
  • Willingness to work irregular hours and to travel to meetings, including overnight stays when required (with appropriate prior notice). Frequent national travel required.
