Head of Paid Marketing

London, hybrid (at least 3 days a week in the office) · Reports to the Digital Director · Up to £80,000 + benefits

About us

At The Cotswold Company, we make furniture and homeware to be lived with for years. Every piece comes with our 15-year guarantee. We're a certified B Corp, and most of our customers shop with us online. We want to reach the right people: customers who go on to love our brand, not just click on it.

About the role

Online sales come down to three things: traffic, conversion and order value. Our Head of Ecommerce Trading owns the demand we earn and what happens once visitors arrive. You'll own the demand we pay for: its volume, mix, quality and cost.

This is a business leadership role, not a channel management role. With the Digital Director and the Head of Ecommerce Trading, you'll be accountable for how our digital business performs. You'll own a multi-million-pound paid media budget, stand behind the numbers in the weekly trading meeting, and make the case for investment to our CFO and Board.

What you'll own

  • The whole paid portfolio in one place: PPC, Shopping, Performance Max, paid social, affiliates, display and video
  • Paid sessions, channel mix, traffic quality, blended ROAS and cost of revenue, measured against target
  • The paid media budget: the annual build, phasing, in-year reforecasts and moving spend between channels
  • The paid traffic forecast, and how accurate it is
  • Bidding strategy and the quality of the data feeding it, including value-based and margin-led bidding
  • How paid performance is measured, including attribution and incrementality testing
  • Product feed quality as a way to drive sales, not a technical afterthought
  • Our agency and platform relationships: scope, terms, performance, and whether to continue, change or exit
  • The paid tech and tracking stack, working with our tech teams
  • The overlap between paid and organic search, shared with the Head of Ecommerce Trading

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

Your team and partners

You'll lead a team of four across PPC, paid social and affiliates, bringing channels that currently sit apart under one lead. You'll build real channel expertise in-house, so we aren't dependent on agencies. You'll work closely with Finance, buying and merchandising, and you'll stand in for the Digital Director on paid matters.

What you'll bring

  • 5+ years in performance marketing, including at least 2 years leading a multi-channel paid team
  • Direct accountability for a paid media budget of £5m or more, including in-year reforecasting and reallocation
  • Experience owning the budget relationship with Finance yourself, rather than working within a budget set elsewhere
  • Experience building a channel-level forecast that feeds a wider business plan
  • A track record of holding agencies to account commercially
  • Confidence presenting performance and investment cases at executive or board level
  • Deep knowledge of Google Ads (Shopping, Performance Max, Smart Bidding) and paid social platforms
  • A good grasp of measurement, including attribution, incrementality, marginal return and the limits of platform-reported numbers
  • Commercial judgement that connects media decisions to margin and the P&L
  • Steadiness when the number isn't going your way, and willingness to own it openly

Nice to have

  • Experience with considered purchases, ideally made-to-order or long lead-time products
  • Experience of a business growing through a step change in revenue

How we work

  • Lead with Care: for the budget you're trusted with, and for the team running it day to day.
  • Inspire Possibility: bringing in customers who go on to love the brand.
  • Focus on Impact: choosing efficient, high-quality traffic over raw volume.
  • Endure with Purpose: building a paid programme that keeps growing, not one that chases short-term spikes.

We welcome applicants from every background. If you need any adjustments during the process, just let us know.
