Blue Light Card. Individually great, together unstoppable

The Role and the Team

Home, Garden, Electronics and Micro Categories represent a significant commercial opportunity for BLC. There's real, substantive work to do across these areas: deepening strategic partnerships, scaling micro categories, and shaping how BLC shows up for members.

Reporting into the Commercial Director, the Head of Partnerships owns the commercial strategy and portfolio performance for Home, Garden, Electronics and Micro Categories. You'll build and develop strategic partner relationships, originate new commercial concepts, and lead a team of Category Leads and Partner Managers to deliver sustainable growth. You'll work closely with Marketing, CRM and Product, with cross-functional collaboration central to how this role creates value.

This is a new role, created as the partnerships function grows, giving the right person real scope to shape category strategy, build commercial models and establish themselves as a senior commercial voice in a business that's maturing fast.

What You'll Do

  • Own and evolve the commercial strategy for the Home, Garden, Electronics and Micro Categories portfolio, translating priorities into measurable outcomes for the team.
  • Build and grow strategic partnerships that deliver sustainable commercial performance across discounts, commission and retail media.
  • Originate new commercial concepts across category models, partner structures and revenue mechanisms, taking personal accountability from idea through to delivery.
  • Identify and develop micro categories as a strategic growth lever, determining which opportunities warrant sustained investment and which should remain opportunistic.
  • Lead, coach and develop a team of Category Leads and Partner Managers, building accountability at every level and creating the conditions for people to grow into genuinely strategic roles.
  • Act as the senior commercial lead on the highest-value accounts and new business opportunities, modelling the depth of partner management and commercial rigour you expect from the team.
  • Build trusted relationships across Marketing, CRM, Product and Brand & Communications to deliver cross-functional commercial outcomes.
  • Use data, member insight and market trends to shape investment decisions, evaluate portfolio performance and identify opportunities to strengthen the member proposition.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

What You'll Bring

  • An experienced commercial leader with a background growing partnerships and new business within consumer retail, homeware, electronics, e-commerce or marketplace environments.
  • A strong new business track record is essential - you're comfortable identifying opportunities, building the commercial case and taking deals from prospect to close. You'll also bring experience driving commercial performance from existing partner relationships.
  • Established people leadership experience, with a history of developing others, creating accountability within teams and building a culture where people are supported to do their best work.
  • Experience owning commercial KPIs, with the ability to use data and insight to evaluate performance and shape strategy.
  • A collaborative, hands-on approach to senior leadership: you're comfortable setting direction and working cross-functionally, and equally willing to stay close to delivery where your involvement creates the most value.
  • Comfortable navigating ambiguity and shifting priorities, adjusting your approach without losing strategic focus.
  • Experience in affiliate marketing or formal partnership structures would be a bonus, though this is not essential.
