This is more than an HR role.

Amegreen is growing, and we are looking for an experienced HR professional who wants to grow with us. This is an exciting opportunity to join a successful and expanding organisation at a point where the People function is becoming increasingly important to our future.

You won't be stepping into a role where everything is already established. You will have the opportunity to influence how we do things, strengthen our people processes, develop our HR team and help shape the culture of an organisation that continues to evolve.

Amegreen provides therapeutic residential care and education for children and young people with complex social, emotional and learning needs. We have built a network of warm, nurturing children's homes and specialist schools across West Berkshire and Hampshire, with a strong focus on trauma-informed practice, safeguarding and positive outcomes for young people.

Today, we have approximately 250-300 colleagues across 21 homes and schools, and we are continuing to grow across our care and education services. That growth brings exciting opportunities and increasing complexity for our People function.

The Opportunity

Reporting directly to the Directors, you will be Amegreen's lead HR professional and a trusted advisor to senior leaders. You will have genuine visibility and influence across the organisation, balancing strategic HR leadership with hands-on involvement in the people matters that really matter. You will lead and develop a small HR team, shape our People strategy and provide expert guidance across employee relations, employment law, organisational development, engagement, retention and people risk.

This is a role for someone who is comfortable with complexity. Our environment can be fast-paced and unpredictable, and you will need the resilience, judgement and confidence to deal with challenging people and situations while remaining calm, fair and solutions-focused.

What Makes This Opportunity Different?

  • Influence from day one - work directly with Directors and senior leaders and have a genuine voice in people-related decisions
  • A growing organisation - as Amegreen grows, so does the scope, complexity and opportunity within the People function
  • Build don't just maintain - help shape and improve our HR processes, culture, systems and ways of working
  • Leadership opportunity - lead, coach and develop the HR team while building your own senior leadership experience
  • Variety - from strategic workforce planning to complex employee relations, no two days will look the same
  • Meaningful work - your work will support the people who provide care and education to young people, making a difference well beyond the HR function.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
