Job Description

Role context and impact

Leads the delivery of end-to-end HR operations and generalist HR support for the Central Group Corporate Functions across the UK and South Africa, ensuring a consistent employee experience and effective implementation of Group people frameworks while meeting local business and legislative requirements.

Acts as the primary HR partner to Heads of Function, providing both strategic and operational HR support across the full employee lifecycle, including employee relations, organisational change, workforce planning, talent and performance processes, payroll oversight, benefits administration, employee wellbeing, compliance, and people policies.

The role is accountable for the day-to-day delivery of HR services for all employees within the Central Group Corporate Functions, including those based in South Africa, ensuring the effective management of people processes, regulatory compliance, payroll and benefits administration, employee relations, and talent activities across both jurisdictions.

Your responsibilities

HR Operations & Service Delivery

  • Lead and manage the delivery of end-to-end HR services for employees within the Central Group Corporate Functions across the UK and South Africa, ensuring an efficient, accurate and high-quality employee experience.
  • Oversee all core HR processes across the employee lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, employee movements, organisational changes, offboarding, HR administration and employee records management.
  • Ensure HR services are delivered consistently in line with Group policies, frameworks, service standards and local legislative requirements.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for HR operational matters and escalations, ensuring timely resolution of issues and effective stakeholder management.
  • Drive continuous improvement in HR processes, controls, systems and service delivery to improve efficiency and employee experience.

Generalist HR Advisory & Business Partnering

  • Serve as the primary HR contact for Heads of Function, managers and employees within the Central Group Corporate Functions.
  • Provide practical, commercially focused HR advice and support across the full employee lifecycle.
  • Advise and support managers on employee relations matters, including disciplinary, grievance, absence management, performance improvement, conduct and capability issues.
  • Support organisational change, restructuring, consultation and workforce planning activities.
  • Ensure the consistent application of HR policies, procedures and governance requirements.
  • Identify and manage people-related risks, escalating complex or high-risk matters as appropriate.

Recruitment & Workforce Planning

  • Lead the end-to-end recruitment process across the Central Group Corporate Functions, ensuring vacancies are filled effectively and in line with business requirements.
  • Work with the team to manage all recruitment activity, including role approvals, advertising, sourcing, screening, interviewing, offer management, pre-employment checks, onboarding and induction.
  • Build and maintain talent pipelines for critical and specialist roles.
  • Monitor recruitment performance and provide workforce insights to support organisational capability and resource planning.

Talent, Performance & Reward

  • Lead the delivery of annual talent, performance and reward processes for the Group Functions population.
  • Coordinate performance reviews, talent reviews, succession planning and development discussions.
  • Support leaders in identifying and developing high-potential talent and addressing capability gaps.
  • Working with Group Reward, Coordinate salary review, bonus and reward processes, ensuring accurate implementation and compliance with governance requirements.

Payroll, Benefits & Employee Administration

  • Accountable for the management and oversight of outsourced payroll services for the UK and South Africa employee population.
  • Ensure accurate payroll inputs, approvals, reconciliations and issue resolution.
  • Manage relationships with payroll vendors and other third-party benefit providers to ensure effective service delivery.
  • Oversee the administration of employee benefits and support employees with benefit-related queries.
  • Ensure contractual changes, employee records and payroll documentation are maintained accurately and in a timely manner.

Learning & Development

  • Support managers and employees in identifying development needs and accessing appropriate learning solutions.
  • Coordinate onboarding and induction programmes to support employee integration and effectiveness.

Team Leadership

  • Lead, coach and develop the team to deliver a professional, responsive and customer-focused HR service.
  • Set priorities, allocate workload and monitor performance against agreed service standards and objectives.
  • Build team capability through coaching, feedback and development opportunities.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, continuous improvement and service excellence.

Compliance, Governance & Risk Management

  • Ensure compliance with employment legislation and regulatory requirements across the UK and South Africa.
  • Maintain effective HR controls, policies, records and documentation to support governance, audit and legal requirements.
  • Ensure the integrity, accuracy and confidentiality of employee and organisational data.
  • Support internal and external audits and implement corrective actions where required.
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory developments and advise stakeholders on potential implications for employees and the business.

Organisational Change & Employee Experience

  • Support the design and implementation of organisational change initiatives, restructures and business transformation programmes.
  • Ensure change processes are delivered in line with legal requirements, Group governance and employee engagement principles.
  • Promote a positive employee experience through effective communication, employee wellbeing initiatives and responsive HR support.
  • Partner with leaders to strengthen organisational capability, engagement and performance across the Central Group Corporate Functions.

Qualifications

Your skills and knowledge

  • Strong generalist HR management experience with operational delivery focus
  • Experience managing fully generalist HR operations and small teams
  • Good understanding of payroll, benefits and HR systems
  • Ability to balance business needs with compliance requirements
  • Strong stakeholder management across local and remote teams
