The Role
Reporting to the SVP of People, this is a strategic, hands-on leadership role responsible for shaping how Carbon Clean People function operates as we scale. You will lead People Operations, Reward and Employee Engagement, making sure the business has the infrastructure, governance, insight and employee experience it needs to support growth, performance and transformation.
You will partner closely with senior leaders so that People is seen as a commercially focused, data-driven business enabler.
What does success look like
- You are trusted with highly confidential matters and handle them with maturity and discretion.
- You roll your sleeves up, balancing strategic thinking with hands-on delivery in a fast-paced scale-up.
- You build credibility quickly with C-suite and VP-level stakeholders and are confident to challenge and disagree constructively.
- You are comfortable with ambiguity: you ask the right questions, then take ownership and run with things without needing the full picture.
- People Operations are efficient, accurate and scalable, with measurable reductions in manual effort and clear SLAs delivered consistently.
- Engagement is maintained or improved year-on-year, with leaders accountable for acting on the results.
- Reward is competitive, fair and well governed, with strong partnership with Finance on cost and budget.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
