Head of People

Part time 30 hours per week | Permanent

£36,000 per annum (£42k fte). Plus salary increase after probation

Birmingham-based / Hybrid Working

For over 100 years, the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) has worked to create a safer society and prevent accidents that needlessly kill, injure and maim thousands of individuals each year. We have grown into a unique and well-rounded safety charity with an increasing global influence, driving change and striving towards our vision of an accident-free world.

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Head of People to lead and develop our people agenda, ensuring it supports the delivery of our organisational objectives while fostering a positive, high-performing and inclusive culture.

This is an exciting opportunity to join our Senior Leadership Team and play a pivotal role in shaping the employee experience across RoSPA. You will provide both strategic and operational leadership across the full employee lifecycle, championing best practice in people management, organisational development, employee engagement and wellbeing.

Do you have…?

  • Significant experience in a senior HR or People leadership role
  • Proven experience of developing and implementing People strategies
  • Experience advising senior leaders, executives and leadership teams
  • Strong expertise in employee relations, including disciplinary, grievance, performance, capability and absence management
  • Experience leading organisational change, transformation programmes and restructures
  • Strong knowledge of employment legislation and HR best practice
  • Experience of workforce planning, talent acquisition and succession planning
  • Experience managing payroll and pension administration
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to use people data and insights to support decision-making
  • Experience of developing reward and recognition approaches, including salary benchmarking
  • Excellent leadership, coaching and team development skills

Essential Qualifications

  • Chartered Member or Chartered Fellow of the CIPD (Level 7 or equivalent)

Desirable

  • Degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant discipline
  • Experience within the charity, not-for-profit or membership sector
  • Experience leading culture and engagement initiatives
  • Experience supporting organisational growth and transformation programmes
