Head of People & Organisational Development

Flexible Working (Full-Time, 0.8 or 9-Day Fortnight Considered)

Memcom is delighted to be partnering with a highly respected national charity and membership organisation, doing incredible work for a large member base, to recruit a Head of People & Organisational Development.

This is a newly reshaped role with significant visibility across the organisation and an opportunity to influence culture, leadership capability and organisational effectiveness at a pivotal stage of growth. Reporting directly to the CEO and working closely with senior leaders and trustees, you'll be the organisation's lead/sole people professional, combining strategic thinking with hands-on delivery.

This role would suit someone who enjoys being both strategic and operational: someone comfortable rolling up their sleeves while influencing at Executive level. The organisation has grown significantly in recent years (tripling its income, c. 30 staff) and now wants to invest in its people infrastructure with the same ambition it has applied to its services, digital transformation and membership growth.

Key Priorities

  • Developing and implementing a People & Organisational Development strategy
  • Strengthening leadership and management capability across the organisation
  • Enhancing employee engagement, wellbeing and inclusion
  • Reviewing and improving HR processes, systems and people practices
  • Supporting workforce planning, succession planning and organisational design
  • Providing expert guidance on employee relations, culture and organisational change
  • Working with trustees and senior leaders to provide workforce insight and assurance

Requirements

  • Senior HR, People or Organisational Development experience
  • CIPD Level 5 (or equivalent experience)
  • Experience operating as a trusted adviser to senior leadership teams
  • Strong employee relations and people operations expertise
  • A track record of developing culture, leadership capability and employee engagement
  • Experience within a charity or non-profit professional membership body, or similarly values-led environment
