Head of People

Gaucho are seeking an experienced Head of People to play a key role in delivering our People Strategy, developing our managers and help to shape a culture where our people can thrive. Reporting into the People Director, you will be responsible for driving all things people; everything from engagement, performance management, employee relations, diversity and inclusion, wellbeing, recognition and communication, alongside supporting leading the wider People team which includes Recruitment, L&D and Human Resources Business Partners.

Our portfolio currently has 19 restaurants across the UK with our Head Office located in Hanover Square (Central London).

Responsibilities:

  • Supports the People Director to deliver on People Strategy and key initiatives
  • Leads the HRBP Team and acts as deputy to People Director
  • Drives Employee Engagement across the business through initiatives including Best Place to Work, Values Champions, Employee events etc
  • Comp and Bens including Benefits admin, Pay grades, Bonus administration, Monthly Payroll checks
  • ER including being the senior point of contact for employee relations issues
  • Coaching managers to help develop their people management skills as required
  • Undertake projects which will support the Company’s Aims/Strategies and/or improve the effectiveness of the People Department

What will you be doing?

  • Work closely with the People Director to deliver Gaucho’s People strategy and key initiatives, acting as their deputy when required
  • Lead employee engagement initiatives, including Great Place to Work, Values Champions and team events, helping create a culture where our people feel valued and heard
  • Oversee compensation and benefits administration, including pay grades, annual bonuses and monthly payroll checks
  • Line manager 2 HRBPs, setting clear priorities, supporting their development and ensuring consistent, practical advice across our restaurants and Head Office with disciplinary, grievance, absence and other people matters
  • Manage the relationship with our external employment law advisers, ensuring advice is clear, timely and appropriate to the business
  • Coach managers to build their confidence and capability in leading teams, managing performance and handling people matters fairly and consistently
  • Lead People projects that support Gaucho’s business priorities and improve the way we support our teams
